Like I said in the other thread, it's commendable that you all are fighting the good fight, but you might as well change your names to Don Q. and start tilting at windmills. Sadly, this is an exercise in futility.

You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word: Victory. Victory at all costs—Victory in spite of all terror—Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival.

I admire, and at the same time giggle at, the teenage-esque naiveté with this whole scheme.

May I mention that I sat around the board room table in Biel at Swatch HQ last Friday? It's maybe a bit less futile than you think.

When you replace a Hayak as chairman and start making decisions for Swatch, let me know. 😉

Didn't say the activists in this thread would like what I said, but it's WAY closer to the truth than any one of you will admit in your fervor.

Again, good luck. I have other fish to fry - ones that I know I have a chance at.

May I mention that I threw out Denny Doyle's son at a little league All Star game 40 years ago? It doesn't qualify me to make any changes to Major League Baseball's rules.

His name is Mr. Hayek.

This is gold. Thanks!

EDIT: Have all the last words you like. When the day comes that you've set Swatch and the watch world on it's ear and they've acquiesced to your demands feel free to come and taunt me til the cows come home. Trust me, I won't be holding my breath for that day.

It is a fine thing to be honest, but it is also very important to be right.

Not sure what the big deal is about participating in the petition. Surely can't hurt anything. And understandable it may well be futile. But why give crap to people who are trying? The petition took me all of 2 minutes to fill out, which is probably less time than you spent telling people it's a waste of time...

My commentary from the survey:

"As most Swiss-made watches maintain their dependability well beyond the typical warranty period, a buyer should have the option to have their watch serviced by a professional of their choosing. As with automobiles, most owners will cease visiting the dealership once the warranty is over and will instead frequent their local mechanic, whom they trust. Such mechanics (as well as DIYers) have multiple avenues to obtain OEM parts and there is no reason the same shouldn't be true of watch owners."
