So other than a UG polerouter, I'm been on a look out for a nice supercompressor style dive watch.

I was considering buying a 2017 landeron reissue for 350 euros to try and see if I like the style of supercompressor watches...

But I've seen some Wittnauer and enicar on sale... Ranging from 1300 to 2100 usd.

Can anyone share with me their thoughts on this? What's a reasonable price to gun for, on a vintage piece?

I prefer the longines legend, but gotta believe it's $10,000 + for a nice example.

I was in Vegas last week and on the strip a new longines legend was $1742 put the door. Was tempted.

Here is my Hamilton from 70s. A much cheaper option when compared to the longines from same era.

I was sooo close to pulling the trigger on the no-date Legend that was on the FS forum recently- they are pretty hard to find compared to the dated version.

Alpina makes a beaut reissue in 42mm that came out a year or two ago. Will update with photos when home in a few hours.

Update as the link below has only the black dial. 42mm not 41 as I originally quoted.

The key with compressors is the larger size in 38-42mm. The 36mm flavor imo is underwhelming.

The LLD no-date is a killer watch, but the lugs are long.

I had a 40mm Enicar Super Jet and it was killer!

i can only speak to the vintage market. Enicar has some really nice ones (Ultra Dive, Super Dive, Sherpas, etc.). I would guess that most are in the $2000-3500 range. There are a lot of lesser known brands that look nice in the $1000-2000 range. There are a lot more expensive examples as well, including the JLC, the Longines 7042, the IWC (nice one above, although smaller case size), Droz, etc., probably $6000-20000. Do a search but I recall seeing an online dealer in the LA area that sells a lot of vintage super compressors and maybe something will catch your eye.

Yeah my budget is somewhere between 1000-2000 USD....

So far on watchuseek, I found someone selling a wittanuer for 1350, but the triitum on the hands are in pieces.

On instagram, i found an enicar divette for 2100 USD....I'm keen on the wittauner but the condition on the hands might be prohibitive....

There are lots of them out there so rushing to buy an imperfect piece makes no sense. Be patient, learn about the watches and the brands, scour boards and web sites, and when you are knowledgeable and ready be prepared to jump when the right piece shows up. I have picked up a handful over the past couple of years doing it that way and have seen at least 100 that I have not pursued, and my search strategies are pretty lame compared with a lot of guys here, so that tells you that a lot are and will be available.

Thanks. That's the notion I have been getting from this forum so far, (it's something I respect and am keen to learn and glean from you guys =))

I have a Rodania Waterman in for service and repair that will likely end up for sale when it's finished (it came in a lot with another watch I wanted). Price will be at the bottom end of your range. Might take a short while to fix though as I need to source a correct crown. Here it is as found, sorry the pic isn't great.

Also have a Sherpa Jet 33 but that's looking like a keeper. As watchknut mentioned you should be careful about the size, as some people are probably disappointed with the 36mm versions if they've only ever seen them in pictures. They photograph like bold and chunky divers, but by modern standards they're on the small side. Personally it doesn't bother me at all, I think they're charming.

Cool. Yeah I'm actually a fan of smaller watches... 41mm is probably the biggest ill ever wear. So anything from 34-41mm is good for mr

If that's the case you'd probably be better off with a vintage 36mm. They wear really well and larger than their size due to the crowns. Here's mine...

Here's my only super compressor, it's an enicar Sherpa jet 33 as mentioned by others above. It's about a 40mm case and wears beautifully, very comfortable.
