Ok, you started it. So I stepped foot inside a mall this past weekend for the first time in... I don't know, 4-5 years. Of course I took a peak at any watches I walked by. One place had some Citizen, Seiko, and GShocks. Cool. Most of what I saw however were over-polished and covered in fake diamonds quartz stuff. Bulova, Movado, etc. 🤮It was a sad state of affairs.

Then I walked by a place that only had Invicta. I didn't dare go look at the huge display cases with maybe a dozen watches total for fear that someone may start talking to me about them. I would then not have been able to hide my disgust. I even took a picture so I could have a good laugh later about it. And here we are...

Retail prices on Invicta can be pretty high. But with patience you can get great deals. I checked. Huge discount right now on a Gladiator. Gladilooked!

Excellent choices! I'll have the green one, maybe two, one for each wrist.

Everyone loves to bash Invicta, and I will agree a vast majority of their stuff is way over the top and is as fugly as humanly possible.

But sometimes you have to give credit where it is due. Where else can you get a Seiko automatic movement in a classic style for $60 or under?

This one is 40mm but they have them bigger or smaller if you want them. It’s got a lollipop seconds hand. What more do you want?

I wouldn’t touch their quartz movements with a 10 foot pole, though.

Going all the way back to the OP, I also don't think it's fair to compare Bulova to Invicta.

Why not?

Citizen (Miyota) vs. Seiko, at least for the automatics.

I think that Bulova is pretty damn good for that kind of money. That thing has to weigh like half a kilo and it'll last someone forever. Someone could live with that as a 1 watch GADA and never look back

Yes, that wasn’t my intent. I think Bulova is a lot more respectable in general although all of their “mall” watches were extremely garish. Those were the worst fake diamond offenders. The OP watch isn’t bad. Been awhile since I’ve seen an open heart watch. Not sure how I feel about it. Sorry for the derail, just saw Macys and had flashbacks to the mall.

Woodbridge or Menlo?
Oxford Valley PA. Baby mall. Another fun story. The mall cops were getting into it with a group of loitering teenagers. Bunch of yelling and a foot pursuit. Mall rat life.
