Here I sit, enjoying my watches, which give me true pleasure especially uninterrupted. We can get distracted in the forum and forget we could really be just be enjoying watches.

These are two 145.012's. On the left is a watch put together by me - from a service movement and dial fitted into a straight lug case - removed by me and placed into this 145.012-68 case. (The straight case went a long while ago, fully declared and of course way too cheap). So this watch is interesting as it the rare -68, with an Omega Service movement and dial. I find the dial attractive, but I have always thought of the watch as not valuable.

The second 145.012 is very brown. How it got that colour I have no idea, but I like it.

    Here is a rare shot:

Unfortunately these have become so valuable that they have to live in the bank, so two together is always a treat. Both have Extracts and the interesting thing is the dial differences, Ill let you guys play that game.

    P3170023.jpg

So its off to the airport in the snow, lets hope they get here!

Have a good Sunday everyone, and if you are sitting around, playing with watches, I'd love to see what you have. Doesn't have to be Speedmasters - lets see your Sunday morning pleasures.

    Wonderful watches!

This morning I was enjoying my Tollet -which essentially is a private label Breitling 765 with Venus 178 from ‘46- by putting it in its original box. Marvellous how both have survived the decades :).

Each has their own character, and all make it into the rotation. 2500C Planet Ocean, 321 145.012 Speedy, 552 SM300BT, 865 145.008 Chronostop, and my 320 2278-3 Pre-Seamaster? ;)

I have given my 4 a rub down with the cloth this morning and wound the Tudor to keep it going while it sits in the safe awaiting its day....

I had a similarly quiet morning yesterday. I was looking at some very different and less valuable Speedmasters.... These are Omega’s first three automatic Speedmasters: Mark III, Mark IV, and the 125 Chronometer.

Yes the Mark III and the 125 almost make the Mark IV look restrained! :D

A bit more humble than some on this thread but I like it, picked it up at the Solihull watch fair this morning. 1960-61 hallmark 9k gold case, 17.7m 267 movement. Suspiciously clean but looks pretty original under the loupe with a nice contrasting circular finish round the edge. I think these are pretty underrated and these early 60s ones have a whiff of Connie-lite about them.

I had to work today unfortunately, so I put on my trusty Speedy that has become my daily wearer and off to work I went. I’m glad my Speedy is not as expensive as those raicing dials so I can enjoy it on a daily basis. Snapped this pic before work.

Pushers don't work. Too scared to wind it. Crystal beat-up. Detritus everywhere. But the sheer honesty and originality of it has been giving me great pleasure of late...and until it goes off to get some sympathy I shall continue to whip it out and look and touch it whenever the better half is not looking :)

So true. Thank you sir, for reminding us to take our time, relax and savour our watches. More often than not, I open my box, choose a time piece and slap it on without pause. I'm surprised to see my small gathering of watches as they sit today after a couple of decades of "collecting".

The one thing that strikes me, is the absence of an Omega and more specifically, a Speedmaster. Over the years, I've always had one iteration of the Speedmaster or another in my watch box. The Omega brand was the reason I became a watch enthusiast in the first place. Hopefully, I'll be able to remedy that anomaly soon! Also interesting to me is the sudden appearance of the Seiko brand in my box. It's reminds me of the difficult year I went through and that it's possible to enjoy interesting mechanical watches without breaking the bank.
    IMG_0450.JPG
As I look at my watches today, I realize it's the first time that I have acquired 2 watches specifically to wear for work, the Seikos and that I rarely wear the couple of vintage watches I own. I can also say with certainty. My Rolex sports watches, the Sub and the GMT, are my favourites. But all these watches give me great pleasure, which is my number one criteria.

Super cool. I always liked handling/looking at them, but unfortunately keeping them in a bank vault prevents me from enjoying them all at once.

Having a bit of fun at the moment, even if one of them isn't mine at all
