Submariner to Seamaster

I've owned virtually every Rolex of the past 30 years and have enjoyed them all. Nonetheless, I've decided to make the break. I just sold my last Rolex, a Submariner at a profit, in approximately 5 minutes, and bought a new Omega Seamaster 300M. Rather than messing with the gray market, I purchased the Omega from an AD so I could eliminate any warranty ambiguity. My Seamaster is truly a wonderful timepiece that, as a one watch guy and former addicted collector, I'm going to enjoy thoroughly.

Top stuff. Wear in excellent health.

I like and own bot h brands but, if you're to own only one, Omega is in no way an overall inferior choice to Rolex and IMO is a superior choice if your choice is based on the movement.

Welcome to the club. I own the prior generation of the SMPc. Definitely my favorite. Wear yours in good health.

Yes I agree. The SMP bracelet sucks with exception to the new adjustable clasp. I desperately miss my old 2254 with speedy style bracelet.

I can understand that. However I know many who like the SMP Diver bracelet and find it to be most comfortable. Not sure if its the wrist type or size dependent.

I very much dislike the modern Sub clasp, its longer than am elephant's tusk and extremely uncomfortable.

Count me among those who like the SMPc bracelet. Far more comfortable than the bracelets on the modern Speedy or the Globemaster. Still the best, IMO, are Omega’s beads of rice bracelets from the 60’s. Pair one of those bad boys with a vintage pie pan Constellation and you have one hell of a nice watch that is supremely comfortable to wear.

Yep, I've owned 13 Rolex models over the past 38 years. Sold my last Submariner this past summer to fund a Seamaster Trilogy. Just found a SMP on rubber hidden under the bed in the guest bedroom (can't wait for Christmas). That makes 4 Omegas, I'm hooked. Just dawned on me, if I don't find a new watch under the tree, I better hire a private investigator....Congrats. the watch looks great.

I mean its fine just cant touch the oyster. I'm thinking of getting the rubber strap too but not sure how easy they are to swap every few weeks yourself

I dont know why but i think the bracelet on the older seamaster was more comfortable?

second this. Interesting how the 2254.50 came to be with a speedy bracelet but it sure was a match made in heaven

I agree, in those older style bracelets the folding portion of hte clasp recessed perfectly into the clasp housing so the internal of the bracelet was smooth with no protrusions......

My view in the comparison of SMP vs Sub is that with the SMP you get a heck of a lot more than what you pay for, whereas with Rolex i struggle to accept it over delivers against its price....

Totally agree even after the price increase on the Omegas earlier this year.

Seamaster Diver on rubber is my favorite modern diver. I like the 4 and 5 digit subs though.
