Iv noticed that you can buy a brand new sub for about the same price as the vintage ones. What makes them hold there value so well. .

My little bro acquired this one not to long ago . It's a 69 with original box , seal, paper work and recipe.

Could some one she'd some light on maybe a value for it 20140407_201446.jpg

The word ROLEX on the dial. The general public has been brainwashed to believe Rolex is the best watch ever by the best marketing ever.

I dunno about you, but I love me some Coke.

Edit: As in Coca-Cola, classic. No "new" Coke for me, please.

Nice 1680, I believe 1969 would be Red Submariner though which is worth a bit more. If that's the case, dial has been replaced. Bezel is nice though.

Coke is good, but I prefer Root Beer.

….. and the wording in your post could be misconstrued. :p

Shame it doesn't have the red dial, would have made an amazing set. If you pull the crown out, does the time stop (hack) or does it keep ticking?

Not when winding but yes when you pull it out to set. It stops

If I had a time machine I'd go back and buy every 6541, 6542, 1680 red, and PN I could find.

See that's a bit weird because a '69 Submariner shouldn't stop when the crown is pulled out

Which would alter the timeline, and they'd end up worthless. The butterfly effect man.

Looks like it says '69 on papers but what's the serial between the lugs?

The Calibre 1570 movements had non-hacking variants originally through to about '73 or so, my 1680 is a white sub from '79 and has the hacking movement. As Kyle mentioned it would be interesting to hear what the serial is (leave the last few digits out if you like).

No, I think they'd become even more valuable. One guy owning a huge number of NOS vintage Rolex models? I'd be ruler of the universe.
