Hi everyone.

Has anyone come across a picture directly comparing the 14060 against the new 124060? Better still, does anyone have both and able take a comparison shot?

Ive seen plenty of 114060 comparisons but can’t find anything between the 5 and new 6 digit references.

Here’s my 124060. I’m just missing the 14060 (for now!)

Here’s my 14060m maybe not the easiest comparison as I currently have it on a band. I love it . I am curious about the 124060 in the flesh though.

What I love about the 14060 M is that it is truly the last of its kind. With the aluminum bezel and the pinhole lugs it is a direct descendant of the 5513 and 5512 series. It’s the end of the classic sub with the the Parachrom advantage.

What I love about the 126040 is the balanced dimensions against the 114060 and the maxi cases. I I just have One maxi case ( the hulk) and I like the new proportions better.

if I was to get another sub it would be the 124060 over the date version. It’s a beautiful watch.

Why oh why Rolex.
They made a perfect little dive watch/daily wearer and turned into an anchor.

Here you go...I think the new one rights all the wrongs of the last one.

* shamelessly stolen from TRF 😁

On that last pic I have to agree the 14060 m does take the price . A little sexier.

im happy they maxed out the cases though as it will just being added value to mine. 😀

Excellent - thanks @stevec14.

It kinda backs up what I had been thinking. Namely that although the 124060 is a major improvement over the 114060 (imo), I agree with @Nobel Prize and there's just something about the 14060m, with it being the last of the classic Subs, yet still modern enough for daily wear.

I think I need a mini restructure so I can get hold of a 5 digit Sub this year. From that pic I think I can justify both a 14060 and a 124060.

You are welcome. Aesthetically I prefer the 5 digits too. As a thought, why not add a BB58 to the 124060? It’s very similar

I want to like the Black Bay and to a large degree I think it's great. I've just never tried one on that really made me want to buy it. I find the standard BB's too thick and although the proportions of the BB58 are much better, I'm not a fan of the colours on the standard 58. Perhaps I'll try the 58 Blue this year.

The one BB I thinks looks stunning is the Black Bay One from several years ago. If something similar was released as a production model I'd be putting money down in an instant.

There's always an argument for having both and I myself would not mind having them both. If it is one only the 14060m wins. Another option you have is to get a submariner Date. That was my option I haven the 14060m and a 16610 and then the Hulk. Because they retain and increase on value so well I would buy a modern 41mm option either date or no date in no time. Easy choice.

Vintage is all well and good, and I've owned (and still do) both Rolex and Tudor vintage watches.

Personal aesthetics preferences aside, for a practical and useful watch - and by that I mean legible at any hour of the day or night - the latest iterations are superior for obvious reasons.

I like the OPs plan to have both. 👍

That’s the rule with watches isn’t it? If in doubt, buy both.

I thoroughly recommend the blue if you get a chance to try one. For me it works better than the first one (I had both) and it would give a nice change of colour while retaining the overall look of the 5 digit.

but hey - 2 subs is probably better than one sub and one tudor so if you can swing that then why not. The other option, of course, is to get a 16710 to pair up with the modern sub. You get 5 digit case size but differing complications.

That's definitely an option as well as a Pepsi would give some colour variation as well.

I'm not a fan of the Rolex modern watches.

In my opinion they have totally lost the charms of days gone.

For me is an easy choice, as @Nobel Prize says 14060 is the last of its kind.

Here is mine, S serial, tritium dial.

Best.

Good suggestion of a 16710 to add diversity to the 14060. And the Pepsi bezel adds a nice color variation to the Submariner black bezel. A Submariner and GMT is the approach I went for except I chose a 16700 since I preferred the quick date change and only needed 1 different time zone to reference. Here’s mine:

I’ve thought that same thing since this one was released 2-3 years ago!!
