Stumped. Any 30T2 gurus here?

Having trouble sorting out this 30T2 PC. To start I’m a hobbiest. Narrowed down the problem to the hairspring (I think). Was a non-runner to start. Inspected and cleaned everything. The gear train is running smooth and the pallet snaps back and forth nicely. But when I install the balance it doesn’t want to run. Pivots are good. I’ve had it running just barely with hardly any amplitude and oiled it but I just barely turns over. The hairspring looks perfect when I have it off the balance cock. When installed it seems to foul. Looks off center and has the outmost coil touching the 2nd outermost coil. Almost looks like its dragging on the spokes of the balance wheel. I’ve cleaned the balance in lighter fluid twice and demagnetized it. Any ideas?

If you look at the spring in the second photo, when it's off the watch, you can see that the curve that leads to the stud is not concentric to the balance. So when you put it in the watch that curve is distorting the spring.

If the spring is touching the rim or spokes of the balance, you need to make sure that the stud is installed to the correct height to ensure that the spring is parallel to the balance. This can also be affected by the regulating pins. But the first thing I'd fix is that curve to the stud...

Thanks Archer. I was browsing for the proper shape of overcoils to use as a reference. And this looks pretty close to item B in the diagram. But it is definitely sitting off center in the movement. It lines up in the regulator pins but sits at the very tip almost falling out the bottom when the stud is fully seated in the balance cock. So maybe its the base stud? Should it sit above the wheel spokes a bit? It looks to be pressed all the way down. Maybe I’ll try that first. I haven’t had the best of luck adjusting hairspings in the past. But practice makes perfect

Or were you saying that this part of the spring needs to come in ever so slightly. After taking a 2nd (or 10th) look it does seem a bit off.
