If you are considering a black dial 41.5mm Aqua Terra, then at the risk of being incredibly self serving, I do have one for sale at a pretty decent price point in the marketplace right now 😁::psy::

Getting a new 38 Aqua Terra but cannot decide whether to go black or blue or white on the dial color.
Black seems most logical, I have another watch with a blue dial and own nothing with a white dial (but my wife does have a Seiko with a white dial which I've tried repeatedly)...
To my mind black hits on every occasion and while I absolutely love the AT blue dial I worry that it feels "too specific" and won't stand the test of time (pun not intended ~ a color that isn't for all occasions and might be too oriented towards Summer, etc) and white -- well white is weird for me: I love it on watches but whenever I try one on I end up not feeling like I'm wearing an everyday watch (which is what the AT will be).

Stuff like this gets asked all the time and while I know it's subjective & even ridiculous to do so (in the end I have to make the decision after all) can I get some opinions I may not be considering?
Said differently: for an everyday watch what color do you prefer and why?

Thank you.
Which terra are you keen on

I had the current 38 mm with the blue dial, but foolishly sold it. It's a great watch with a fantastic dial, but in my opinion the blue dial works best with a bracelet. Eventually I wanted to have the watch on a strap, but in my opinion blue leather looks to artificial. It seems easier to pair a white or black dial with leather straps. I should however have kept the watch and worn it on the stock bracelet.

I'm thinking about buying a new AT 38 mm and have several times set my mind on the black or the white, but always hesitate when I see the blue dial at my AD.

Unless you actively dislike blue I would get blue. The blue dial version looks dark, almost black, in lower light. But it has so much character when more light hits the dial. In bright sun it absolutely dazzles.

To me black is black. Always black. Kinda boring, unless you love black.

As for size, the AT absolutely looks larger than the advertised size. I have a 7 inch wrist and the 38mm version gives me all the size I could ever want. I've tried the 41mm and it's really large. I would recommend the 41 for people with a 7.5 inch wrist or larger--but it's definitely not for me. At the time of this writing my avatar is my blue dial 38mm AT. If someone thinks that looks small on my wrist I would say they are nuts.

When I was looking at ATs I tried on the blue dial in 41mm and every time I put it on wrist it felt way larger than 41mm. The other dial variations wore more true to size and hence I ended up pulling the trigger on the green dial which I'm very pleased with.

I did a detailed review on the AT in green if you care - check the reviews section out for that thread.

What about a grey dial. Still neutral, goes well with anything, not blue or black. I like white dial watches (especially with gold hands and markers) as well but I find that they are dressier.

True, but that blue is something pretty damn special -- the way it plays with light is amazing.

That's why I went for the blue. Also tried black and green and originally had gone for the white, but the blue becomes green, sea-blue and a silver sky-blue, then dark deep lake blue and finally black, all in the space of a few hours or two. It is a remarkable colour, and mine is at under a fraction of second ahead of atomic time over the week and a half I've owned it, which is superb.

There are great dials across the line. Only you can make the final call. Unless you buy half a dozen of 'em.

I’m biased but I find the teak dial so versatile, currently on a tan strap but here it is on brown, will work with blue or black straps too

Did you arrive at a decision?

Still on the fence... it's either black or blue. Blue is tugging at me though while black is whispering in my ear, "I work for everything, I'm timeless."
Told my AD I'll make a decision by Tuesday.

Following this thread and everything else I could find online relative to AT colors and size choices, I bought a BLUE 38 Aqua Terra on the bracelet last Friday morning. “We” also bought a ladies Aqua Terra, size 34, with a mother of pearl dial and diamond indices.

Pretty damn expensive day, but we had a big week with a couple major milestones to celebrate: my doctors told me I was cancer-free on Monday, and My First Wife turned 60 on Wednesday. So, we cruised over to Barrington to see my watch guys, George and Al.

Stay tuned for pics. I’ll post them here and probably over on the WRUW thread.

Tried both yesterday….to my eyes the blue.

Congrats -- the traditional "wear in good health"salutation clearly has profound personal meaning for you, and looks like you've chosen some wonderful watches to celebrate your new freedom.

Was just looking at the blue dials on Omega’s website and there seem to be two versions - one with all white writing and one with ‘seamaster’ in blue and some of the minute numbers in blue also. Does anybody know if the actual dials are the same blue (they certainly look it in the pics)?

AFAIK the dials are the same, except that as you note minutes track is in blue on one and white on the other. I have the white version, and chose it over the blue and green mainly for that maritime mix of crisp white and dynamic blue, which reminds me of sailing and summer and the Med in the best possible way during these long winters -- but I could easily have gone for one of the others and been just as happy.

Any of these ATs buys you one of the most beautiful watches on the market at anywhere near its price, IMO. Absolutely love mine, and it's been astonishingly accurate thus far.

Thanks for that, I love that Omega gives so many options but it does make choosing even trickier, although, as you say, you can’t really go wrong with any of them.
