Hi there,
Was watching Fellows watch auction yesterday and interested to see that both Speedmaster -71's made decent prices . Lot 130 had what I think was 1039/516 bracelet but made less money that Lot 119 with , I'm guessing, a 1171/633 bracelet. Guess other difference was 119 came with papers.

There weren't a lot of good photos to analyse the dials , blacks very crushed, but didn't expect them to break the £5000 barrier after commission added.

You can view the original listings here and have attached photo of page for those not interested in web surfing.

Yep, seen these two and was an underbidder on Lot 119. Note that it came with Box and Papers in fairly good condition and a trapezoid Logo 1171...

Personally, I didn't dare bidding more as I would likely be faced with VAT of 21% being charged over the final price upon import into the EU.

Perhaps that also explains part of the results; to UK buyers, it has become quite a bit more attractive to buy locally now that import taxes are likely being imposed on any purchases made (and properly declared) from elsewhere?

With sterling nearing 1.40 to dollar that’s a high price indeed. $7400. Must be Brexit effect.

Don't forget that 119 had an engraving on the caseback too ...
