Ok chaps, we have something interesting coming up at Fellows.

The description and the estimate are rather interesting and a photograph of the movement is unfortunately not available...

I believe this one def deserves an own thread :

Glad they clarified the fee situation once the hammer price exceeds £100,000.

I may go and inspect that, I only work round the corner from Fellows. If anyone else is going, give me a shout.

Not from the POV of buying you understand, way out of my league.

It would be nice to know the extent of the corrosion hidden by the case back, the movement condition and also the dial condition.
It will be interesting to see what this one goes for, it has goo and people love a bit of goo.
    Cheers, Michael

We'll if I get it in hand I will take a pics and report back. I have nothing to lose as even if it went cheap it would be pricey for me I would imagine, especially after Stephen Whittaker has taken his circa 30% chunk. Of course if you are anyone else are interested in bidding and want it kept shrouded in mystery, buy me a pint and I will send the pics direct by pm ;)

I will buy you a pint if you are ever in Yorkshire anyway but I won't be bidding, not because I don't want to but because these are out of my league these days.

    Cheers, Michael

I feel that is headed to the land of chocolate and then fitted with a new case, and Voila!

Possibly some nasty corrosion near the pushers.

Out came the laptop again and zooooooom. Yes, there's corrosion. I have the highest respect for your experience on these but surely it's not that bad? Hammerite will stop any further progression surely? Quick spray? Maybe two coats?

Galvafroid is much better, you only need one coat.

After all the tripe in the forum last few days this is post of the week. I laughed out loud.

I remember the 1970's "Oh just let the Hammerite dry before the MOT, they will never know its filler"

Bummer about the chrono hand and replaced crown, but when you shoot into that atmosphere that this watch will reside in upon hammering, those are drops in the bucket from a cost standpoint. The dial is superb. I'm not sold on that being corrosion near the pushers - seems to be raised from the case, rather than sunken (leading me to believe that it could just be gunk).

Those were the days. A tube a Cataloy and a tin of Hammeriite got my old cars through many an MOT

All jokes aside check the case back join near the endlinks - I have seen watches like this with the threads decayed.
