Strap for geneve Ref. 131.019 (Caliber 601)

Hi everyone, I recently picked up this watch and I’m hoping to find a strap that closely matches the original. I checked the Omega website, but it only shows a black-and-white photo (not sure why—Google had a color image). Does anyone know what type of strap was originally used for this model, in terms of material and pattern?

Thanks in advance!

I’m sorry that you haven’t had a response. I imagine that everyone thought that anyone with a particular view on this would have posted.

I suspect that whilst many vintage Omega wearers seek an original bracelet or strap buckle, the general view is that each of us has a liking for a particular style or material in watch straps.

There are very many strap sellers and each of us makes a personal choice.

Typically collectors don't put much value in straps/don't seem to care. Most straps if of that age will have been destroyed/damaged by now anyway. When I care enough, I'll buy an Omega buckle and put it on whatever strap I have.

I'm not even sure there is a registry of what straps were available back then, even today the strap numbering is all over the place.

I make my own straps. Others here do as well.

Not difficult to make. Mostly the time hand stitching.

Small bits of scrap leather cost next to nothing from second hand leather goods.

Sorry but I had to laugh, it takes me 5 to 6 hours to make a pair of straps, and I swear and curse with every pair I make, lol. When I started this hobby, I never imagined it would be so difficult to learn and so expensive for tools, experimenting with various skivers, edge creasers, glues, hole punches, threads, hole chisels, edge paints, waxes, edge bevelers, etc, etc.
