Strap/endlink advice

When I bought my 168.034 it came on a leather strap that tapered from 22mm at the lugs to 14mm at the buckle. Omega confirmed that this was the right type of strap to go with the watch when I had it serviced.

Question 1.

Either side of the watch is the leather strap that came with it. It looks old, the buckle is genuine. Does anyone have suggestions from what period this strap comes? . Question 2.
I bought some 604 endlinks (See above) that, I thought, would allow me the option of a bracelet. These endlinks have unfortunately been trimmed from 22mm to 20mm so are unusable. Are 604 endlinks still available from Omega?

Thanks for your help.

PS The watch is currently on an Uncle Seiko Tropic which is a great Summer option and not too different looking from the synthetic leather rally straps in the late 60s/early 70s catalogues. I alternate that strap with an Omega NATO.

Does someone with knowledge of straps have an idea what decade the leather strap come from? To me it looks 1970s...no padding, strong taper, no stitching...I am no expert, but if it could be the original/early strap its worth saving. (I know this puts me in the camp adjacent to the bloke that cares about original spring-bars, but like him, I stand unapologetic!)

Any suggestions on where to source some 604 endlinks?

Thanks guys.

That strap is definitely worth saving IMO. I do not see them often.

I believe this design was en vogue in a short period of time between the mid 1960s till beginning of the 1970s.
I had one Enicar in my collection with 22mm and an original Enicar strap like yours and I have a LIP in my collection with 22mm where a NOS leather strap that looks like yours but unbranded fit perfectly.

Thanks Dan and Sir Taifun. It helps me things into context for me. Lord Skunk: I have not approached Omega yet, but will get there. Thanks for your response.
