AN UPDATE: very very unfortunate, my close friend that this belongs to had it stolen in Melbourne, Australia, earlier today in the morning in Dockalnds, meeting up with a prospective buyer in a cafe. The criminal tried it on and ran out of the cafe, was chased for a few blocks, but had 2 friends also chasing who kicked my friend and knocked him over.

Police here have been alerted.

The serial number is 8960641.

Please DM me or email [email protected] if you happen to come across this for sale, as per the photos above!

Moving this to seller reviews for lack of a better location, as it is a now an APB on a watch that is no longer for sale. I should add that if we had seen this earlier we would have pulled the listing due to it being sold on behalf of someone else, but at this point that has become moot and I hope the owner gets it back or is at least made whole somehow.

Really sorry to hear this news Robin. As you know I have bought and sold many watches in Melbourne. Sometimes in locations that do not inspire confidence but, touch wood, have never had anything like this happen. Was the contact through one of the local selling forums?.
Hope he gets it back.
Tony

Damn I feel bad for your friend. I got robbed up at gunpoint in a lively city named Waterbury CT. Dude got my chain, which wasn’t a big deal but it had a nice cross on it. I took out my wallet which maybe had 30 is init I asked him if I could keep my license before he took my wallet. I think he was perplexed that someone who had a gun pointed at them was negotiating. He said keep the wallet give me the cash.

So we got to what I thought was the end of the transaction but he had to say “give me your watch”. Of all days I was wearing the one Rolex I have. Anyway my cuffs were buttoned up I was able to stick out my arm saying I don’t wear a watch and say a quick prayer. By this time he was more nervous than me as he has had the gun pointed at me for damn near two minutes. He had enough didn’t check for the watch and he beat feet. I know had I lost my one and only Rolex that day I would still be depressed and this was years ago and my Rolex is just a gold Cellini not worth what your buddies is I really hope it all works out because getting robbed is a terrible thing. At least he wasn’t injured.

That was a ballsy move, but what I might have done in your situation. I used to carry a spare wallet, that had a bunch of old cards and stuff in it, with a few bucks. I figured I could show them the money and hand it over, and not give up my license and active cards (and the credit cards I use for recurring transactions stay in the safe at home, so they can't be stolen or skimmed and force me to go change my number with all my recurring vendors).

For the past 20 years I'm usually carrying a firearm, but if the bad guy has already got the bead on me then I don't have time to get mine out without getting shot first, so then they'd get my watch and wallet and it's my fault for not paying enough attention to avoid someone beating me to the draw anyway.

well you must live in the south I’m in Connecticut where even shooting in self defense can get people charged. No Castle law or stand your ground I’ve seen many times prosecutors decline to file charges and numerous not guilty rulings but that still means you need to pay the lawyer.
Ok sorry didn’t mean to veer of topic. I could give the info to the guy who services my watch he worked at swatch for a number of years but being in the US I don’t know if it would help, I can at least try.

I'm in Colorado where we are not required to retreat if it's not safe, but the Castle doctrine only applies to inside our home or campsite/hotel room under our control, but not our place of business.

I carry 2 large liability insurance policies, and a platinum self defense insurance plan from the USCCA to cover legal fees, bail and loss of earnings during civil and criminal prosecution. I am allowed to carry in most states (34) except for the 5 liberal states in the west and 11 more farther east.

I've actually had a concealed weapon permit since the mid 90's and have only had to draw twice and never fire (1 mugger who dropped his knife on my command and I let him go, and the burglars who jumped out the back window when I came home and startled them.

I avoid places where I cannot carry, or where I don't feel safe even if I may carry. I will not shoot a fleeing felon unless I witnessed them use deadly force and I fear for the life of myself and/or others.
