Stiff Seamaster Professional Links

I am a proud owner of a new green seamaster professional! Absolutely love the watch and beautiful dial.

Only thing is, the half end links are incredibly stiff. Asked the AD and they said it'll just take time to loosen up.

Anyone has the same issue? Solutions? Thanks!

Hard to know without seeing or feeling the bracelet, but I’d trust the AD on this. They’ve handled thousands of watches, I’d imagine, and have no reason to lie to you about this.

In my experience bracelets definitely do loosen up over time as springbars, pins and sleeves bend slightly. (After years of extended use the “give” in the bracelet can get problematic, at which point you or a watchmaker can replace those connective bits.)

That said, this isn’t something that will just happen on its own in a drawer—need to wear the watch regularly.

I’m guessing a couple weeks of daily wear and you’ll be fine.

I would not recommend trying any forceable or chemical “solution.” Just let it happen au natural.

I went back to my AD a couple days after buying a new 1861 speedmaster, due to 1 stiff link. The lady fixed it and said it seemed like too much lock tight had been used. It was good at that point so I didn't ask further.

Tried loosening the screw but still very stiff. I even tried moving that link maybe x100 times but it's still super stiff. Maybe its a lock tight issue.

If it’s really that bad and is not loosening with wear, I’d urge you to take it back and let the AD handle it. You don’t want to do any damage to the bracelet or watch that warranty won’t cover.

I don't understand how loktite or loosening the screw could affect the tightness of the link.

I've had this problem with the half links on Seamaster bracelets as well. So it is definitely an issue. They are just a very tight fit.

Did you bring it back to AD to have it sorted or they just made you wear it till it got loose?

I've had this issue on a new Seamaster bracelet, and it was indeed too much Loctite from the factory. The white powdery stuff (dried Loctite) got between the pin and the link and it started jamming it up slightly. After a thorough cleaning with soap and a little dental brush, it fixed the problem. Either the factory worker is putting too much Loctite, placing Loctite too far in from the threads, using Loctite that has been exposed to the air too long (it gets runny after a few minutes), or is placing the Loctite before inserting the center pin which would cause a mess.

I had the same issue with my brand new SMP 300m. I manually worked the links one by one through their full range of motion, and the stiffness completely went away after doing this a few times over the course of a week.

It is an amazing bracelet!

I've had the same issue. I fixed it by washing the bracelet in warm soapy water then applying tiny amounts of food grade mineral oil to the links and working it in well.

Update:
I wore it for 1 week. Some days just sitting there and working the links the full its range of motion for 100x. It was still really stiff and sometimes it dug into my wrist causing discomfort.

I went back to the official Omega store and they fixed it after leaving it for 1 day with the technician. He said it's a known issue and they had to shave off a bit of the link to widen it plus lubrication.

Now it feels perfect and I'm loving it!
