Sterling silver Jezler Ω watch box - Centenary or Constellation DeLuxe

Let me start by saying 2 things:

1) We never came to a concensus about which watch these boxes came with. Some were all smooth surfaces, some were all textured crosshatch surfaces, and others like this were smooth sides and a textured lid. This box was probably for either the later Centenary models or Constellation DeLuxes, up to the mid 50's.

2) It's made of .925 sterling silver as you'll see in the pictures. It will tarnish - no ifs ands or buts about it. This was just cleaned with tarnish remover (not polish) and then sealed in a zip lock freezer bag to keep air out. I don't know how many sellers would say this up front, but if you plan on exposing it to air you can count on getting that dark purple/brownish surface coating.

Okay, on to the pictures!

As you can see, the outside is in very good shape but is not without the normal minor imperfections you'd expect with a 60-ish year old box.

The hinges are in great shape and operate smoothly.

There's also an authentic lid inside - although this was purchased separately, it is correct for these boxes.

The liner was custom made to match the original as close as possible.

Judging by what these have sold for, I'm setting my asking price at $530. This will include Paypal fees and USPS Priority shipping with signature verification if mailed to an address within the CONUS. All other destinations need to contact me for cost.

Contact via conversation / PM here ONLY! I'm not listing this on any other forum yet. As usual, first one to claim it at the asking price gets it but offers are welcome and will be considered.

Thanks for looking!

Not to my knowledge. These boxes were only used for the top of the line models anyway:

This catalogue is from 1959. Based on the model, the box cost between Sfr. 100 to 140. At that time it was the equivalent of $25 to $35. With inflation and depreciation of the dollar against the franc, you're looking at just about the amount Dennis is asking in today's dollars at a minimum.

Note that it was not even offered to purchasers of the mere mortal 18K, Gold Capped or Steel versions.

One end of the strap slides into a slot in the velvet.

The bottom of page 361 of AJTT shows ads for the Grand Luxe and DeLuxe in silver boxes. The GL used to come in a taller case.

WOW! That is a below market price for one of these, especially with both pieces of the insert!! You never see the insert included with one of these.
