Hello fellow members
I wanted to share with you this pic of the difference in color between white gold and steel. I guess gray gold is a better name for it.
Do you think the color is that much different?
Thank you

Not that much different, but discernable. Actually, I prefer stainless steel. Certainly less expensive to purchase and easier to buff out scratches.

White gold is often rhodium plated, making colour comparison between white gold and stainless steel, difficult.

Not this omega though it’s full 18k white gold, no platting as far as I know. There made just like how Rolex make there white gold watches.

I never felt there was much difference in the look of white gold and steel, rather the biggest differences are in weight and thermal properties. WG just feels a lot different on the wrist.

Okay, I’ll put it another way. Unless you know whether the white gold item has been rhodium plated or not, comparing colours would be difficult. White gold alloy which has not been plated is not as “white” as for example, platinum or palladium. Hence the fact that rhodium plating is often applied.

Gold is much heavier that is for sure!
I have a hard time rationalizing a WG sports watch like the Pepsi Meteorite or the Smurf.
While I am not one to really modify a watch much if I had to have either of those I may try to source the dial/bezel and convert to a SS.
While I like the weight of Gold I just like to wear and not worry about dinging my watches like I do with SS. WG and SS look so similar to me this is a hard call.

Here you go. Stainless, white gold and platinum..

If you didn't have them side by side I couldn't tell the difference. But, the first time I put on a white gold watch + bracelet I was taken aback by how heavy it was.
