Already did so. With some persistence you would be amazed what might be achieved in less than year. And now also looking at some other quite intriguing brands as of my taste.

Awesome ! RM is next then - go for it!

Also, wondering whether now it will be easier to service the vintage 321 movement.

Does anyone know how it will be priced?
Silly lad ... if you have to ask, you are not the target consumer. 😜

Ill bet they price it in the high range for where the 2998 series sit right now. Just a guess. They will also keep production low to ensure every watch sells in nanoseconds. It is the nature of things now.

I'll just wait until they show up on Jomashop for 17% discount, just like the Apollo 11 did last evening. Allegedly.

Can't believe no-one commented about this yet? 😒

Or just like the Icelandic scam, am I always the last one to be looped in? 😁

Does that Instagram post mean the platinum is out? I thought it was not released yet.

I've heard it'll be priced along the lines of steel Daytonas, so 12-15k MSRP.

Hence MSRP.... what happens in the secondary market remains to be seen but doubtful it'll be as crazy as Daytonas.

I will leave that brand to you. If you deliberately mention it means you like it a lot. Especially those with sapphire cases. 🍿

Sorry for my Speedmaster noobness, why is the cal. 321 so coveted? Is it that much better than the 861 or an 1861? I thought movements were always getting better/more refined as time goes on.

Obviously with any hype thing once it's discontinued people will want it. The 1/861 movement was a cheaper, easier to mass produced movement than the 321 but keeping the same functionality. It's harder to manufacture a cam/lever chrono than a column wheel chrono (that all the current high end watches still use).

The base lemania movement for the 321 has been used by Patek, VC, Breguet, etc for chronos.

Manufacturers are always looking for ways to achieve the needed functionality at lower manufacturing costs. Rarely is it to 'improve'. At this point I'm just happy most of the parts inside are not made out of plastic.

I partly do not agree. Yes, cost saving is always a point to look at. And parts of the 861 are made cheaper, but not less functional. In fact the 861 is more accurate (generally seen). The one plastic part would make perfect sense (!) and at the time, where it has been introduced, it was not a „no-go“ material.

The 321 is simply a nice and robust movement - and it has been on the moon. Not more, not less... 👍
