As collectors, we always love acquiring a watch from an original owner, or a watch with some cool back story. We especially love watches that have some military history. Yesterday (4th Of July 2019) I had the privilege and the honor to write the first page of this watch’s military history by gifting my step son his first (real) watch, a 1997 (birth year) Omega Speedmaster 3570.50. We got the watch about a year ago and we waited for the right occasion to present it to him. This week marked his 2nd year of service in the US Air Force and having him home for the 4th Of July weekend felt like the perfect occasion to do so. Airman S.S, we love & salute you, and we thank you for your service!
We appreciate your son’s service. Here’s wishing that he and his Speedy have lots of adventures and ultimately return home safe and sound.
Terrific gesture…that the young Man will remember, & treasure forever Gifted my own Son, a 1967 Rolex Precision Oysterdate on his 18th Birthday, two years ago
Why isn’t there a standing ovation emoji?!!! These are the gestures that are remembered for a lifetime- truly breathtaking of you to do that. And I have to say- your still life and portraiture is wonderful.
Very nice gift. We thank him for his service. And birth year watches are cool gifts. Similarly, I gave my son a 1998 birth year SMP Bond Quartz for his 18th birthday, but I'm really looking forward to giving him his birth year Speedy 3572.50 next year for college graduation.
Great choice dad Wish I was gifted one when I was that young. We trust having you around has instilled appreciation of such fine timepieces in the young man.
Thanks for his service! Like others have said, this is one gesture he will remember for the rest of his life and will pass down to his children.
