A racing Speedy... in a ceramic case. Though 100% agree with the nonsense of not making available deployant straps for either the PCA or the Apollo 8 watches. And now Ultraman without a bracelet, when a bracelet is standard on the less expensive Tokyo Olympic specials.

The Ryder Cup AT comes on the rubber strap with deployant and the steel bracelet (w/strap changing tool) in the box. It's still curious to me that the ST2 comes with neither.

Yes, it wouldn’t hurt the head honchos at Omega reading this thread to at least offer a bracelet to go with the ST2 as a goodwill gesture, would it??🤔
I suspect just having an #ST2 is their goodwill gesture.

It was made very clear when reserved that it was being sold on a NATO and leather strap.... so why the hell would Omega offer a free brecelet as a “goodwill gesture”?

Heard they are sending you a nice orange box and a UV pen as a goodwill gesture after they read this thread. 😉

Omega needs to engender good will? The ST2 sold out in hours, if it took even that long. We all like getting extra stuff thrown in, but I don't see Omega feeling the need when they SELL compatible bracelets. 2012 Ultraman ST2 units x $800 per bracelet = $1,609,000 in potential profit for Omega.

RJB has said many times before he isn't a huge fan of bracelets especially on special models like this one and he certainly isn't a fan of the modern Speedy bracelet. My guess is as long as they keep making ST LEs and they keep engaging with RJB and his team then there won't ever be a bracelet on an ST LE. Aside from that, why is it more expensive than a standard Moon watch and doesn't contain a bracelet? It's got a stepped dial made of aluminum, a DON bezel with Tachymetre in orange, orange printed indices, AML, inlayed indices with patina colored lume, and a few other bits and bobs (er blob). All those things require an adjustment to the standard manufacturing process and materials and since they are a limited run they have to recoup the investment costs somewhere and that shows up in the price. Not to mention the box it's provided in.

Oh. I guess I didn’t think this all the way through. I no longer think the Ultraman should come with a no-cost or reduced-cost bracelet.

Have to query your grasp of economics there. Your sums below suggest that manufacturing a bracelet costs Omega nothing. In fact the profit margin is probably at a wild guess more like 80% of the list price so if they sold one to every ST2 owner at the cost you suggest would ‘only’ clear about $1.2m!

Pedantic, moi?

Yes. That’s true to great extent. Since Omega outsource much to China, the cost is really a small percentage of the mrsp. I’m sure 30-35% should be the dealers’ margin. In this case they will be saving all dealers margin in percentage and giving them only a fraction as handling charges, since dealers had no role in the booking. The cost of producing dial is only the extra amount spent by Omega.
The movement is stock 1861 fitted in the basic Moonwatch.
Looking at the price Omega charged for nato straps, they might as well replace them with the steel bracelet.
It would have been more gratifying if Omega charged same amount with same package but with a certificate enclosed that the entire watch was 100% Swiss Made. I’d love to pay little extra if they asked me for that certificate indeed.

Interestingly when I raised the issue of them being sidelined by the ST booking process, my local boutique let slip that in fact they did pretty well out of me picking them as the collection location for my ST1 and have extended me all the coutesies of a walk in customer such as taking out links on other pieces and invites to previews etc. Perhaps it is just good customer service or following up a warm lead or perhaps the dealers are being compensated well for their reduced role.

I got a call today from my OB. My 01xx ST2 is supposed to arrive this Friday 8/24. I'm looking forward to picking it up on Saturday if all goes well. By the way, I'm in California and got my email confirmation at 32 minutes past the hour.

It is so sad that many of these landed in the hands of flippers instead of real collectors. Can see them coming up in droves once deliveries start.

And i will have to pay above retail to own one. Sigh.... I really hope Omega does it better the next time round. No amount of warning on website will deter flippers to plunge in hoping for a quick buck or two.

So how do you want them to do it.

This was talked about at length with ST1.🙄
Welcome to the world of online sales. Spyderco knives have had the exact issue for a long time and the only thing the could do was limit numbers.

for those enthusiasts on the waiting list, if you aren't interested in receiving the watch because it doesn't meet your requirements, maybe we should start a transfer of ownership group on here. If you don't consider yourself as a flipper I assume rrp is ok?

Welcome to the world of online sales. Spyderco knives have had the exact issue for a long time and the only thing the could do was limit numbers.

A combination of the below maybe?

1. Full 150% payment upon confirmation of order.
2. 50% extra collected will only be refunded 6 months later.
3. To get refund, photo proof of printed newspaper with watch showing both date of printed newspaper and LE number.

4. Registration of interest before launch to OB. OB will then issue pins to previous buyers with past business dealings with OB, enabling them to do online purchase.

5. By invitation only. Meaning OB or Omega HQ will only invite those in their records to purchase online during phase 1. After which phase 2 is open to others.

6. Last but not least, potential buyer to bring wife to OB with marriage cert and wife to swear under oath that husband has chronic issue collecting Speedmasters. Single individuals to bring Psychiatrists down to swear under oath instead of wives. Then get issued a pin to buy online.

See, so many options. Forgive my ranting. Time for medication.
