if you would have a choice and option to buy only 1, which one would you buy? ST#2 or 1957 edition? assuming you are an owner of ST#1 😉

If it was me, I would choose ST2. I don't like the big broad arrow hands, not my cup of tea, so not even bother.

While I like ST1, I happen to like some bright color accents more, that's why I like TinTin, Ultraman, Jpn Racing, and ST2 is perfect for my preference

I'd go with the ST2. I like the look better.

Not a huge premium for ST1 in US. Can call it what you want..... Just look at the sales section before padding yourself on the back.

If you create an account on Chrono24 and use the Watch Collection feature you can get pricing data on pretty much most references. According to that tool, the ST1 is worth about $8500 USD currently. I'd say that's a significant increase over retail. Data on watchrecon.com seems to support this as well.

If you bought an ST1 in America and paid 8-9% sales tax then you are into it for $7100 I believe, the asking price for the one that just sold here was $7500 so at best there’s a few hundred bucks in it for Americans

But that one was dinged on the 1 o'clock lug and was priced $500-700 lower than usual.

My original ST is still in the plastic case unworn.

And I've been afraid to wear mine out of the house. Sad.

Let's not forget that a lot of "collectors" want one still in plastics, as with all watches, moment you unpack it loses value.

As above, far more visually stimulating. The 57 is almost perfect, but the faux lume just makes it look bland to me. The faux lume on the ST2 however really adds to the design, blob aside the ST2 is perfect for my taste.

I don’t know where you see all these ST1s being sold at RRP but in my experience they are trading presently at about £1000 over list so I think your 2c isn’t worth a fat lot!

I sold mine some time ago for less than £5k complete with the 1171 bracelet, it still hung around for a day or two. Still not RRP I know and looking back mine was probably about the best deal sold over here in the UK on the secondary market. I do miss it but I have to say I much prefer the ST2(finding it hard to put the funds together so can see me not being able to go through with it sadly, need a loto win 😀).

I am going to have a similar problem when I get the phone call. Not sure what I will sell but something will have to go if I am to collect my ST2. 5K wads of notes don’t grow on trees infortunately. I too am leaning towards preferring the look of the ST2 but won’t know for sure until I see it in the flesh.

Thanks for all the comments about ST#2 vs. 1957 battle! it's interesting, I thought more people would prefer 1957....I don't know frankly which I like the best - would like to buy 2 of them but it not going to happen when I look at my bank account 😝

decisions, decisions...

I would be thinking along the lines of long term will I prefer something very classic looking or something a little more fun? For me I'm pretty sure the novelty of the ST2 wouldn't wear off as I've loved the Japan Racing Speedy for years, I prefer the more casual options it gives over the '57(not saying that isn't a versatile watch either, but to my eyes its more dressy than the ST2 and the odd occasions I am smart I wear a dress watch).

I should add I've never seen the '57 in the metal, who knows if I did I could fall head over heels in love with the thing and change my thoughts completely. I did see the Railmaster recently though(in a shop window, I didn't try it on) and I was far less keen that I expected.

My preference is ST2 based on just comparing the aesthetics and ignoring speculation about possible future values, the "story" behind the watch and any other fluffy stuff. However, it takes into account also having a Japan Racing and the obvious similarities ST2 shares with it. All these similar looking Speedmaster LEs are creating new 1st world problems: "Hmm, which orange will I wear today?"😕

ST2 without a doubt it's got it all Sci-fi, Moon , Japan Racing and it's a little bit more exciting for me. In terms of future value I see these going up to 7 to 8k uk initially and holding steady. I don't think these will be flipped like the ST1 as much. I do always think it should be considered before buying otherwise I would be happy with a pre owned Every time. I'm keeping mine so there's only 2011 left 😲

I don't think the ST2 is very similar to the Japan Racing Speedy. Sure they have an orange chrono hand but the ST2 has a black line down the middle of its chrono hand. Sure they have orange pips at the indices but the ones on the ST2 are far more subdued. The ST2 doesn't have a racing track and it doesn't have an orange Omega logo. These are subtle touches but to me, these two watches do not look similar. They have enough differences to stand on their own.

Damn you are going to make me get both. Hopefully the ST2 scratches the inch I had for the Japan Racing. 😕

1957 edition without a doubt, whether you already own a ST1 and are ready to buy ST3, ST4, ST5, ST6... or not.
The 1957 edition is a fantastic watch. It is also the only option to wear a very nice ck2915, unless you can put 150-200 k$ on the table.

Anyone here happen to randomly get 0525 or 0226 reserved for the ST2 and willing to swap for 0307? Just thought I'd ask.

I had been in contact with Arthur at Omega and apparently deliveries will really start in August. I have actually been told that I will be among the first ones to receive the watch this month. I think the chronological order followed is based on the confirmation time. I received the final confirmation email at 12.04 and I had actually been able to choose a number I fancied, the 0068, after failing to get 1968.
It would be fun to hear what was your "performance", at what time did you receive the final reservation confirmation? 😁
