Thanks

Not sure if there are any freebies even if collecting from an OB.

There definitely were not any freebies from my OB when picking up the #ST. They had about a dozen customers who got them from what I remember. I guess since it is a high-volume OB in an affluent area there is really no need to do anything extra. They offer water, soda or champagne when you visit, so that is a plus.

Same for me when I picked up my ST1. Just the watch and an offer for a drink while I looked it over and they prepared it but no other freebies. They did offer me one of those Omega magazines and Speedy Tuesday magazine but I declined as I already had the latter and didn't want the former.

Sometimes there are, sometimes there aren't. It probably depends on what they have in stock I think. When I picked up my Speedy Tuesday I received a very nice leather valet tray and a copy of the 60 Years poster. It was my first time at that particular Boutique too, so it didn't come down to customer relationship either. (When I picked up my Seamaster 300 Trilogy though, I didn't receive anything extra)

If you had to pick a boutique in London to have it delivered which would you choose or are they all the same? Which location has the widest selection of watches and best customer service?

I would suggest Sloane Street. They have a great selection of watches and are very knowledgeable. Who knows, you may get a glass of something 😉

Quite interesting the pricing disparity between countries. I had originally ordered to Miami, FL thinking it would be cheaper, however, I did a deep dive into the pricing and ended up switching my delivery to Calgary, AB because I calculated i would save $1,555 CDN ($1,200USD)! I've translated the pricing into Canadian dollars (using google’s exchange rates - YMMV) for my own purposes, but it's still illustrative:

Canadian MSRP is: $7,980 (plus sales tax, which ranges by province from 5% to 15%; so final price of $8,379 CDN ($6,395USD) at the low end or $9,177CDN ($7,006USD) at the high end):

UK: GBP4,750 = $8,188CDN (which includes VAT)
Europe: EUR5,910 = $9,060CDN (including VAT)
Malaysia: MYR$23,880 = $7,735CDN (unsure if sales tax is in addition)
Singapore: SG$9,100 = $8,828CDN (unsure if sales tax is in addition)
$7,100USD = $9,295CDN (and that DOES NOT include sales tax, which ranges from 0% to over 9%).

If you buy the watch in Nashville, TN, you would be paying $2,500 CDN ($1,900 USD) more (incl sales taxes) than you would in Malaysia! 27% more.

If bought in Calgary, AB, Canada, rather than Seattle, WA, USA, you would save $1,752CDN (or $1,338 USD)! That's a pretty massive difference! Even if you purchased in Vancouver, BC rather than Seattle, you'd save $1,200 CDN ($915USD); less than a 3 hour drive to save 13%.

I was interested in the pricing in Mexico and other Caribbean countries but haven't been able to track down any numbers.... There is the potential to get a "free" trip just based around the price difference between countries. **EDIT** If anyone has pricing for Mexico or elsewhere in the Caribbean, please share for our mutual edification**

Whoa! That's crazy. Do you live in Canada? I live in Atlanta, GA USA and am now wondering what the implications are of me picking up the watch in say, Toronto or Montreal, versus the OB here. Would there be any import taxes or customs issues? Because that's a significant cost saving and would more than cover the cost of a flight and hotel.

Yes, I’m in Toronto.

I’m going to find a way to tack a stop in Calgary onto a business trip to pick it up once it’s ready - nearly $700 cheaper due to sales tax difference from what I’d pay in Toronto.

My understanding would be that you could get the Canadian sales tax refunded (there’s a specific process for this and I’m by no means certain what it is) - then you’d pay US duty at the border agent’s discretion on the way back. Montreal and Toronto (both awesome weekend destinations btw) are in fairly tax heavy provinces (13 and 14.75% respectively) so you’d get a chunk back and then it would depend on what sort of duty you’re likely to pay at the border.

Thanks for the tip! I see now why you're picking your ST2 up in Calgary! That's quite a tax chunk! I went to college in Buffalo, NY and have been to Toronto many times and I've been to Montreal once. Great cities. You've given me something to think about. I think the only challenge is determining when to take the trip - just have to work with the OB for delivery I suppose.

And you can wear your ST2 while watching the new Ultraman series on Netflix. I wonder if a Speedy will make a presence in the new series.

I finally found someone who likes the orange fluorescent blob!
https://www.revolution.watch/ultra-cool-omega/

Quite a fun read considering the tone over the top about anything concerning Omega, together with some interesting details on one of the latest ultraman sale, on the night the 18 chro limited edition was presented (with some mix up of people and their occupations), and on "a watch with an unusually long orange chronograph hand".... lol

Hey everyone,

I’m not sure if this is allowed (or legal?), but I’m not going to purchase the Ultraman anymore. Is there a way to transfer the reservation to a forumer on here? I’d love to help someone out on here who couldn’t snag one in time. If not then standby, there will be a waiting list spot opening soon!

Perhaps we would appreciate more if you give detailed reasons why you decided to surrender your allocation, if they are not financial.

It’s difficult to digest such post without elaborating the reasons. We are here to see how valid they are indeed. Hope you’d oblige us.

You cannot transfer your spot. You would need to go through with the purchase and then resell it to the person. Or they could front you the money, you go pick it up, and then deliver it to the purchaser.

In the spirit of things though, cancelling with Omega so the watch can go to someone on the wait list is the classiest option.

Haha, funny guy. I enjoyed reading that. Well at least one of us likes the blob, it's still my only(well aside from being able to afford the thing when I get the call) thing that gives me reservations about going through with the purchase. I so wish it wasn't there as for me everything else is perfect but my eyes tend to get drawn to annoyances and unlike the guy from the article above I really don't like the blob.
