Speedy Tuesday 1 or Seamaster Liquidmetal (which one)

Well I am looking at 2 limited edition omega watches. I can only have one, I am kinda leaning towards the Speedy Tuesday speedmaster, reverse panda, heritage, and first watch sold exclusively on Instagram. The liquidmetal seamaster is also very nice, modern tech, ceramic and more legible at day and night. Both should hold value well. I am pulling my hair out to decide. Can fellow forum members provide some insight. Much appreciated.

I've handled both. The ST1 is much more special IMO. The POLMLE (or whatever the correct acronym is) is nice but most of what makes it special appeared in following models. I had the opportunity to buy one cheap a few weeks back and after handling it decided not to. It just felt like a posh 2201.50 ie nice but not all that special.

Oh one other thing. The full brush finish on the ST1 (and Great White GMT incidentally) is actually not all that practical, if you damage it, its not easily fixed whereas a polished finish is easy to remedy when tarnished. For this reason, the ST1 is nice to look at and keep in a safe but maybe not a great choice for a day to day wear if you are in a hazardous environment or are prone to clumsiness.

I own both.
The ST1 is a bit more formal.
The ST2 is outright sporty.
IMHO

I own the ST1 which I got pre-owned last month, it's a sleeper, imo. Great reverse panda radial dial, and brushed case is very different. And I like it on the standard two-stitch brown strap. I don't think the brushed finish presents any problem, the previous owner put no marks on the case since the original purchase date of Dec 2017. He must have worn it since it there are some signs of a strap change on the back lugs, but that can happen whether polished or brushed.

Can't add anything about the Seamaster as I'm not sure which model you are referring to.

@padders you bring up a great point about subsequent seamasters and the ST1 is quite different with the brushed case and reverse panda. ST1 it is! What would be a fair price for a new ST1 unworn with no stickers?

You can look at their historical prices on C24. For a new, unworn ST1 I'd budget $10k and hope for luck. Original US price was $6,500, so they have had a decent run-up.

2 Speedy Tuesday #2 on here at the moment (First two pages of FS looked at only ) and probably a ST1 Or a few that have sold in the last few months so a good place to gauge price.

ST2 has a DON, steep dial, tritium looking lume and a applied Omega Logo. 👍👍👍👍

I don't think you can use use the ST2 as a proxy for the ST1, there are about twice as many ST2's on the market as ST1's, and ST1 prices seem a bit stronger by USD 500 to USD 1,000. Prices for both seem to be steady or a slight upward trend.

Wasn’t using ST2 as proxy.

Was mentioning a few ST2s and probably a ST1 if he looked past the first few pages.

Also mentioning don’t overlook the ST2 so fast 😉

Fair points. I have both ST1 and ST2 and they are chalk and cheese, just very different watches on and off the wrist. Anyway, OP will have to do his own research on prices.

Picked up a NOS speedy tuesday and love it!

Well there you go.... 👍

Think anyone that sold this watch is crazy as I’m still enjoying mine especially the Lume and caseback difference.

What was the price in the end for helping further enquirers out ?

It’s such a unique limited edition and the reverse panda is so cool. Given what you get for $8,750USD I think it’s a great value especially when you compare to Daytona’s. Also, I think now is time to get one, new speedy upgrade to be released soon and I think there will be a price increase.

Well done, I bought mine off the OF Watches for Sale forum in August from well regarded seller for a little less. Mine is gently used, all complete and mint except for the telltale strap changing nicks on the back lugs. I think the Speedy Tuesday 1 is underappreciated at the moment, it's a stealth Speedmaster. I put it on a Two Stitch strap, a bit more substantial than the brown strap that comes with the watch, a tad longer and I like the black painted edges. And I can use the 18mm Omega tang buckle. Great quality for the price paid. https://www.twostitchstraps.com/

I've had the ST1 a couple of years now. Bought it second hand after the release and I haven't regretted at all. It's a lovely watch with some unique design characteristics.

ST1 for me all day long. Its on my list, closer to the middle than the top but still a beautiful piece.
