Certainly not ugly, but not as outstanding in my eyes as everyone else seems to think.. In my books, the Daytona's main PoD is the aura it provides to its wearer thanks to its brand equity, and, far behind that, the (long-dead) link with the ElPrimero movement. I'm really not getting it either, esp. at 12K...

I'm not in an income bracket that allows for Daytona's so some would say that my opinion isn't worth much. That said, the things I truely set my sights on are eventually within reach. I'd much rather have the new Explorer and a slightly used 300 Master Coax and maybe a few bucks left over to take a little trip. It would also compliment my simple little 3570.50 Speedy! 👍

I always keep thinking that if it weren't for the Rolex logo, the Daytona would be considered a pretty ugly watch

I consider it ugly with the logo. The modern Daytona have never done anything for me personally, and the vintage are okay, but nothing all that special either for me.

I think they should have gone full panda on the the new Daytona. I can't figure out why they didn't. If I had to choose between the two it would Daytona by mile because I think the 9300 Speedies are insanely thick. That said, neither really appeals to me.

yeah ... my reasoning was more like:

a poor idiot is an idiot
a rich idiot is a rich ...

so an ugly watch is ugly
an ugly rolex is a rolex

agreed: the old ones are ok (without wowing me) ... the new ones not so much

Yes, this is the point, unfortunately. The speedy is beautiful, but non easy to wear

So, it looks like the answer to my question was to skip the new Daytona and stick with my Titanium white dial ceramic bezel Astron Limited Ed, at a fraction of the cost. Of course it is missing is an Omega logo, but it's a good grab-and-go watch that doesn't need to live on a winder or get battery changes every two years to stay on time.

Now, we can't possibly think the GSOTM Meteorite looks any better, right? For me, I'll stick my 1st Gen GSOTM thank you, and save for a JLC Meterorite moonphase.

The 1st generation GSOTM is so much better than the GSOTM Meteorite imo...

I am curious to see the new Daytona in person but the waitlist for the white dial is 4.5 years...

I love Omega. I really do and nothing compares to the Speedy but the Daytona is a classic watch. If I had the capital I'd buy a Daytona.

The Daytona WAS my first choice. After trying on and eventually buying my Speedmaster HB SIA, the Daytona looked like a girly watch {not that there's anything wrong with that--I just have larger wrists) on my wrist (and I still currently own a SS Submariner and a 2-tone Datejust that have not seen a lot of daylight since).
