Looking forward to seeing one in the flesh, however like others a bit too removed from original for me.

4 more years for Apollo 16th 50th anniversary.

So I got a good look at this Speedy at an Omega event this week. First thing to note, Omega top brass freely admit they made some mistakes with the ceramic Speedmaster "Sides of the Moon". The admission was good, it was specific to making too many editions, but didn't go as far as to admit flooding the market with them an eroding customer value. Still, I'll take what I can get on that front.

As to the watch - its pretty awesome looking in person. The yellow, which turned me off in photo's, is well done and blends fine in the metal. What I struggled with was more the strap, I don't like the yellow stitching, and it should have come on a ceramic deployant. It falls right in between a Dark Side of the Moon, and a Speedmaster Professional; 42mm, lower profile, very light on the wrist. It wears really well. Price point is way too high, IMHO, and, it should have been a limited edition. For servicing, Omega will use a special solution during cleaning, given the coatings on the bridges, etc. All in all, a cool piece, but not for me. I instead put a deposit down on the new Seamaster 300 diver 😁

Obligatory pics:

My son & youngsters of his class like this watch... so as mentioned before Omega targets a younger public and it seems to work.
Only, those youngsters (mostly) don't have the funds...
BTW black SeaMaster with minutes bezel looks great 👍

I was at a similar event a few weeks ago. I tried on the Apollo 8 and to be honest hated everything about it. No one at the event had a good word for it including some of the sales execs. I did quite like this, another variation on what is shown above:

I do really like that the new Apollo 8 is thinner tha the DSOM, I the diameter of the watch had been decreased that would even been better.

The price point does seem high given the movement
