Cosmonaut Gennady Padalka has spent 879 days in space, during 5 different missions. It is about 50 days more than the second record holder (also a cosmonaut). During Padalka’s International Space Station Expedition 31/32, he wore an Omega Speedmaster Professional. Now, this watch is being offered at an auction this month. If I was Omega I would take a page out of Patek's book and buy that watch for the museum no matter the cost.

"It always baffles me a bit why someone would want to sell a watch like this. As he has been wearing and using it in space, it must be of some personal or emotional value."

I'd point out that if he's done 5 seperate missions it's entirely possible that he has several different Speedies which have been in space. Getting $25000 for each one is a nice little earner.. 😉

"flew a total of 2000 orbits during its 125 days in space, that’s about 50.000.000 flown miles."

Does it come with the Frequent Flyer Miles?

Really curious to see what this goes for... I do want a flown Moonwatch one day and there are many options like the Mir LE that I missed out on a while back locally but its so damn cool... every time I watch documentaries about the ISS its amazing what has been achieved up there and especially the incredible partnership between nations for the advancement of science and engineering

I should probably not mention the Mir until I buy one, I have this really bad habit of flagging the watches I want to buy before I buy them and pushing up the price I end up paying because I like talking about them too much...

*waves hand* This is not the watch you are looking for

Beg to differ - the "pinnacle of epicness" is a space-flown Speedy Pro.. 😀

Wouldn’t the pinnacle be Aldrin‘s watch?

$29829 now, and something tells me that it will go for more.
Just wondering, why he would ever decide to sell it? For me, it would've been priceless piece of history, that I would pass to my kids.

Remember thus far, a single very well-documented (serial number visible during spacewalk photos/footage) Orlan glove goes about US $ 5500.00
So the reserve aims towards a very expensive Speedmaster...
