Unfortunately, a lot of brands these days already bombard our mailboxes with pre-SIHH and pre-BaselWorld releases. So we know what’s coming, some times we even receive invitations to come and have a look before one of the big shows, to do our own photography. To be honest, we favor the ‘being surprised’ a bit more, […] Visit Speedy Tuesday – BaselWorld 2018 Omega Speedmaster Predictions to read the full article.
Great article @Robert-Jan on the Apollo 8. Others have reported a possible skeletonized DSOTM, which I suppose could be an Apollo 8 tribute. I have heard that there will be a black white Panda dial Speedy with a FOIS case and black racing strap, which I suppose might be an indirect homage to the racing roots of the Speedy. Looking forward to your Basel 2018 instagram posts!
Wow, I hope that Speedmaster Racing comes into fruition exactly like that pic but without that mini Planet Ocean clasp that last year's 60th anniversary Speedy had. The DSotM is also overdue for a minor upgrade to the Master Chronometer movements (9300 -> 9900)
What about 20 years X-33 Speedmaster used in spaceflight ( since STS-89 Endeavour in January 1998 with the March 28, 1998 LIVE TV broadcast from the Mir space station announcing the lightweight 80 decibel digital chronograph ) ?
Astonished to see this picture, the one used on the first versions of the 60th Anniversary of the Speedmaster poster... knowing that those posters had to be corrected and reprinted after they notice the bad photoshop on this one However it doesn’t look bad, there have never been any Racing dial Speedmaster in a straight lugs case I’d love to see it (re)issued, exactly like this
“Astonished”, really? I mean, it is a watch . Explanation is simple, I used the original press pack image without paying too much attention. I was more occupied with the write-up But anyway, I don’t think they will do a racing, certainly not a straight-lug
Now, that would be cool. I have a weak spot for the X-33. And actually, mine is from 1998 and belonged to an ESA astronaut. I should start celebrating :-D
Wasn’t meant against you @Robert-Jan, I was thinking loud I’m surprised they didn’t replace this picture in the kit after their own experience
I think Apollo 8 is thoroughly deserving of a 50th Anniversary Speedy. But so was Ed White's Gemini 4 space walk So how about this for left field? Plaisted polar expedition - Speedmasters to the North Pole on snowmobiles in 1968. Caseback potential?
