Hi all,

New to the forum, recently joined after this thread caught my interest and gave me a pleasure reading through the many pages. Thanks @blubarb for starting the thread and @repoman for all that great additional info in response! If this is still going, mine is 777804xx.

You've got some new numbers since the last calculation, how many do you reckon are out there based on this? 馃榾

On Chrono24 it's mentioned that this model has a screw down crown. I tried on my watch but it seems it is not a screw down crown. Please let me know if it's a screw down crown or normal push in crown. Thanks anticipating a quick response.

Not screw down - pull out crown. Screw-down crown is not required in space as there is not a lot of water or much risk of flooding... 馃檮

Another quick query. When I wind my watch it's bit hard to wind and has a sound as well compared to my other watches like Patek Calatrava and JLC. Is it Normal? Regards

yes and yes - but don't forget that the Patek (good ones anyway) are high beat quartz...they are very quiet 馃槈

Chrono24 isn't really a selling site, more of an indexing system of what's for sale on various forums, websites, etc...just do your due diligence as you would do on any watch you intend to buy and if not sure post on OF as somebody will be sure to help.

Interesting way to get to the correct answer...

NASA didn't design the Speedmaster, they just tested and approved it for use - not designed for space flight originally.

A screw down crown is not required in order for a watch to be water resistant.

And finally, although space is pretty dry, they called it "Splash down" for a reason...

Cheers, Al

It was bound to! Congrats!

After passing up on one a while back, I thought I'd missed the boat... the stuff in dealer stock was all ex display, and the three watches I was shown had scuffs/fade.

A wonderfully helpful fellow member hooked me up 馃榾 Cheers @DLT222

Congrats on the pick-up. Mine has become the most-often-worn out of my modest collection.
