I have no problems with the car pics, I thought they looked pretty cool... my "jump the shark" comment was mostly based on the 10 pages of repetitive speculation and pseudo numerical analysis . There is just no value add there.
I actually like that

Been following this thread since I accidentally bought a speendy TinTin last week (serial in the list already):

Looking for a strap so I can use wear it without fear of trashing the bracelet..... and this watch looks better on straps...
maybe something like this (with an Omega SS buckle of course) ?

I noticed that you have a fancy wood box--at first I thought it was just a nice presentation box of an unknown make, but then I noticed that dubois has the same box too (and it's Omega-branded). I know it's nothing like the nice new presentation box that's being packaged with certain moonwatches (comes with a loupe, nato strap, etc). As far as I know, Omega only ever sold this model in the standard red case with white box.

This is actually wrong - there have been red cases and those wood cases. Mine was with a red case as well 🙁

In what instances were they provided? Only in certain regions? Or specific vendors (specifically from a boutique)? I see two available on ebay from italy/france with the box, so Euro-specific? I'd really like to get one. I could always reappropriate the original box for use with one of my SMPs.

Can it be as simple as that? Mine was purchased brand new from an AD less than 6 months ago, white boxed... That's too bad. I saw some pictures of the box and it looks fantastic. To think that only some people got the wooden box is disappointing.

Not really. Omega did change their boxes a few months ago, on all of their ranges. For many years, the tatty red box was accepted, but the new wooden box is much more becoming of such an expensive item. However, the box will still sit in a cupboard so who cares, really?

I wonder when production of the wooden boxes was started. Does anybody know when Omegas started to appear with them?
