I was hoping to get some feedback on the differences between the 1140 movement & the 3220 so I know how to approach the "reputable" (??) online vendor that sold me what was listed as the Speedmaster Reduced Marui from the 2000's but when I look through the Chrono Maddox tables it's actually more likely to be late 1980's.

I picked this watch for the much nicer caliber 3220 movement (as I read somewhere to stay away from the 1140) as well as the smaller 39mm Speedy due to it being a future gift for my daughter.

What differences are there between the 1140 & 3220 in terms of quality, long term accuracy/reliability, serviceability and value because I'm ready to go after the seller for lieing about what they sold me!

In case anyone can check the manufacture date, it's serial number 53213041.

    Thanks guys! :)

53 serial would be 1991. The 1140, 1141, 1143 and 3220 used in the "Reduced" are all built on the ETA 2892-A2 base movement and Dubois Dépraz 2020 chronograph module, so the differences could be for reliability or to reduce (ahem!) manufacturing cost. But the differences are probably going to be small.

I know of no reason to avoid the 1140, and mine (54 serial, worn this week) gives me no trouble at all. In fact with just under 50 hour power reserve it does better than the normally quoted 40 hours.

80s is modern enough. Most of the people who say "stay away" are repeating some nonsense they read. There is little inherent reason to avoid anything, because Omega fixes actual faults after the fact at service anyways, and anyone doing authorized service has that information.

But if it was sold as a 3220 and that isn't what you have, that's a separate issue.
