    Hi all,

I'm on the look out for a used Speedy racing. This one has come up, but the seller appears to be an older gent who can't seem to take a half decent picture. So flag number 1. Claims to have papers and box, not seen yet (waiting for picture, hopefully not blurry.)

He's got these pictures. I know its probably not good enough, but thought i'd post for thoughts.

    Thanks

No expert on these but what are your concerns? Looks pretty consistent with other internet pics.

First glance, the case doesn't look stainless. Engraving on the back is fuzzy. Good catch with the bezel print. Numbers are too fat, anyway. This is the first like this that I have seen. Others have a quartz movement inside with the subdials spaced poorly. Surely the sell knows it is a knock-off.
    Agreed, walk (or run) away.

Legit. That picture on the bottom is blurry and makes it look off.

3rd pic is a different watch from #2. The tachy scale is completely different. I would run

Taken at the same time and date but 20s later? Nah it’s just a poor resolution low natural light pic.

Seem to be lots of these out there (ref 326.30.40.50.03.001), this one looks frankly, filthy.

Unless it’s an amazing deal, if it’s already making you twitchy, walk away... there are always more watches.

Look I think it’s legit as the laser etch is there. The serial number on the lug is there and applied correctly and I can’t find anything wrong with the dial. Yes the third picture is out of focus and makes the bezel look wrong.

But I’d not buy it. The racing’s from this period are pretty meh looking. The dates are a little better looking but still meh. And I own a date. For the 2k or so being asked I assume there are better options.

My only concern would be the slightly off looking position of the date(looks a bit to the left of the window), but maybe they are just like that on this particular date.

    I too think it's legit.

Thanks to all for your initial opinions. I'm awaiting pictures of the warranty card and what not. Happy to post them up for a sanity check when I get them.

This is legit, no doubt about it.

Have anyone here calling this a fake ever seen a fake one of these before? I haven't, but I have seen a lot of photos taken by technically inept people to know that's what's going on... @VeracityFirst - listen to @Foo2rama's advice: if it is cheap, go for it. If not, find another. It is not a dificult watch to source.

It is well priced. I've got a reserve on it whilst the seller meets my requests. Seems like a genuine guy, just not a great photographer! In any case, if it does indeed result in a replica, I can simply return I suppose. Thanks for your input.

Compared to others in the market, and taking into account that it might be due a service (from the epic body grot on the back and pushers it looks to have been worn for a while)?

Yes, even taking that into account. I think it just needs an exterior clean to be fair, but I'll only know when I see it.

It's all risky business this game, but I do often find myself in these positions. Perhaps I'm a glutton for punishment.
