What am I missing? Why did this go so cheaply at the Phillips Auction in Geneva?

Fair enough, but these dials are incredibly rare and I fully expected this to fetch something closer to 75k

I’m sure the lower than expected price surprised many, but goes to show that condition is still important when compared to rarity.

the problem is that we dont know the top 3 bidders and what their motivation of purchase was across the omega section of the auction. For instance, its possible that bidders saved up the money for the SM300 and those who wouldn't end up as the winning bid would have bid more on the speedmaster if it would have been auctioned after the sm300. but there may be hundreds of other "auction dynamics" we are not aware of.
