For me, the '57 is a little smaller with a less muscular silhouette and more polished surfaces, so it can be worn a little "dressier" imo (to the extent that that might be a pro or a con for you). Although for that particular watch, the fauxtina was a little too much/brown for me in person, which ultimately led me to the '57 trilogy. (I also have a 145.012 on a light brown rally strap for more "casual"/sporty wear, which for me gives me the best of both worlds).

PS I'm also not against fauxtina in general (I really like it on the NTTD Seamaster); it's just that on that watch, like I said, it was too much. Have you tried them both on in person yet? (That can sometimes make a big difference for me).

Tried Speedies and some other options. Unfortunately, there was no '57 at AD. Moonwatch looks great, Racing feels a bit heavy and thick. A bit upset with 300m - I expected it better. 300 is a bit shiny for diver. Maybe Summer blue is the right option here.

Hi all.

I'm in strong doubts about two options of Speedmaster:

1. Moonwatch SS.
2. 57 with sandwich dial.

I really don't care a lot about price difference and space fairytale (otherwise I buy Sturmanskie).

Wrist size - 7.5 inches.
Racing looks a bit thick. Manual winding is not a problem. Date absence is more a plus - easier to set a watch.

What are your thoughts?
The Speedmaster ‘57 is a facsimile of the CK2915 and as such is not a “classic”, you will lose money on it if you sell it. The Speedmaster Professional is a stone cold classic and has never been better in terms of quality and accuracy than the current model. Provided you buy it right you will generally get your money back or at least lose very little. That is the objective and financial aspects out of the way. As for which is a better watch for you nobody else can say but bear in mind the Speedmaster ‘57 has long lugs that do not “hug” the wrist and so it wears very large on the wrist with the risk of “overhang” of your wrist does not have a flat top or is less than 7.5 inches. The Speedmaster Professional has better shaped lugs and is shorter lug to lug. It wears better on more wrists than the ‘57. The only way to know which will fit you is to try them both on, when doing so try the watches on bracelets and straps as the wearing experience is radically changed moving from a bracelet to a strap on both watches.
