How did seller describe watch? What was return policy? If sale was “as is” and “no return” and not misreprented then it’s hard to justify return based on buyer remorse, particularly if already shipped.
But EB is skewed toward buyer. If I was seller and hadn’t shipped yet I would probably just cancel sale to avoid likely complaint that would end in buyers favor to avoid the hassle.
Keep in mind many here are sellers as well and have experience from that side.
I think its a pretty good buy given the circumstances. I would not send it back, as the true learning experience, and understanding of the watch will come with ownership.
If you send it back then you will only learn half the lesson.
As a naive buyer you took a risk, and I really would worry about the money - the test is to see if there is another for a similar price. There is not. This watch has a history, and has not been through a dealer.
I think the pushers might need sorting out, they dont look right, but this is something you will come to understand through ownership.
The -68 is indeed rare, but not added value (at the moment!)
The dial, bezel and case all match in condition, and as a whole I like the watch, as it is a price and condition that begs to be daily worn
Ok a very nice surprise!
145.012-68 best result a nice clean looking 321 movement with 1 service mark inside Caseback
...
I think you did well and have a great wearable 321 Speedy!!! congrats
The good news is that it is the best-case scenario from the perspective of all the references it could have been from the photos in the listing. The bad news, of course, is the condition, with the washed dial and poorly polished case. However, I believe that was accurately factored into the price and you did ok from a value perspective. So it's really just a matter of whether the watch gives you joy in-person.
So good and bad news;
The reference is a plus but the case condition appears worse than expected/hoped from the initial photos.
This is sometimes what you find when gambling with vintage watches with poor pictures but it’s also the best way to find a diamond in the rough. Win some and lose some.
