What have they done to this poor speedy? (even if he is the odd looking brother) http://www.invaluable.com/auction-l...called-teutonic-3291-c-fe14a8faac?campaign=rr I like the look, but are the hands salvageable? Thanks.
A lot of the Teutonics up for sale have pretty bad condition hands... I'd guess they've tried to sex this up with a set that fits an 861, but was not intended for this model. My bigger concern would be whether that "paint" will come off of the bezel, and whether it's been up there to cover something up. The dent in the lug at 1-2 o'clock is also less than ideal...
Teutonics tend to sit unsold for a LONG time - with price expectations above market. I'd guess this was a bit of an ugly ducking, that someone picked up cheap, and has tried to beautify. But much like putting lipstick on a pig, this hasn't helped.
I have a soft spot for these, and a tolerance for mods, but even I don't find this attractive I'd rather suspect the "processed" images may also hide more than they reveal. Below is how it should look (taken from https://www.deployant.com/godspeed-omega-speedmaster-part-1-collectors-view/ )
Doesn't look to nice? Tatty painted blue dots on the inner ring That will probably wear of rather fast? Not to my taste. The original Teutonic is okay though. A nice watch for a nice money?
