I was asked an opinion on an early 2998 and I could not see any rings on the subdials. The seller said that this early 2998 does not have them, and on quick glance mine don't.

One of the problems was that we were communicating via this site, which does something to the images, which in the case of these rings, hides them. So it might be that on publication here, you cannot see the rings. In which case I have linked below to www.sp101.net for full images, and more of them.

However, on close inspection there are concentric circles, albeit feint:

Yea they just get lost in the noise by the looks, its not surprising, particularly straight on, I find they're a lot clearer at angles.

Yeah, they seem to get lost easily in photos. Only one example here.

IMO they are different strong depending on the model and or the dial producer. The deepest are on my 145.012 and the less visible on my early 2998. There they are practically not visible.
