Speedmaster Straight Writing with Decimal Bezel?

I got this Speedy as part of a trade, and i was happy to accept it as the dial is very nice IMO.

The movement serial number is correct for the reference according to the Speedmaster book. The caseback seems to be a service replacement. So far so good.

However: The Speedy came with this Decimal bezel. And here is my question
Are there any straight writing Speedies known with Decemial bezel or is this an incorrect bezel?

I see two options:

a) the watch was delivered with a decimal bezel back then -> according to the Moonwatch Only book, "this option was available on all references from the start of the 1960's"...but until which year?

b) the original bezel was fitted later

I am looking forward to the feedback of forum members.

best,

Stefan

Im voting 'service bezel'...but I only have pictures to go on, and you have the watch in hand.

You have a genuine decimal bezel, for sure! 👍 Happy to talk trade for a Tachy if you ever want to do so.

From here:

thanks for the comparison, thats great. The differences between Vintage and Service are subtle, but looking at the 50, 70, and the 100, it seems a vintage bezel to me.
So do i understand correctly, that this was a valid , albeit rare option on all speedmasters of the 60's and 70's?

best regards from Switzerland,

Stefan

thank you for your feedback, yes it appears so. I will probably keep it as it is, or keep the bezel for an another speedy (given that this one has a service caseback...)

Have a great sunday!

I'm not sure why the OP believes this is a SW. The case-back is a service part and the dial does not appear to be stepped. What is the serial?

The dial looks stepped to me Dan if you look at the 8,9 and 10 markers in the first pic of the thread.

it is a step dial, a bit hard to see on the pictures..here is a better picture.
Serial is 32.3 Mio, seems correct for a straigh writing.

best,
