.Got it.Thanks Al. I remember growing up, my grandpa (WW2 veteran) had German pocket watch that he get on the way back from Berlin. So he was letting me play with it, but always was telling me not to wind it fully, because it would damage the spring(he didn't know better, neither did I (7 or 8yo)). But this kind of stuck with me for a years, that I was under impression that fully winding the watch would damage the spring.
Late to the party here. Same here. Just noticed the squeak two days ago. I’m coming up on a year, so I’m gonna take it in to check water resistance. I’ll see what they say. It’s also been skipping seconds when using the Chrono sometimes and the reset pusher feels “spongy” sometimes. Minor stuff really, still runs a second or two fast a day.
Reviving an old thread as I was involved with it a few years ago.
Last year I sent my Speedy in to Swatch Toronto for an unrelated issue (it was running faster than Omega spec). They did a partial service, replaced a bunch of parts, including gaskets, and lo and behold I never heard the squeak again! It’s been one year since I got the watch back and the squeak hasn’t come back.
Oh. And if anyone tells you that a Speedmaster 1861 isn’t a very accurate chronograph, they’re wrong. Mine is running +1.5 seconds per day adjusted to three positions and it’s held that rate for a solid year. Very pleased with Omegas service!
