Speedmaster Speedy Tuesday LE1

updated- it was recommended I use a UV flashlight to charge. It made a huge difference. Thanks for the tips.

Recently bought a Speedy Tuesday 1 . Never even considered asking for pictures of the luminescence. Is it normal for a Speedmaster of this age to have virtually no luminescence on the dial, sub dial and hands? I can only compare it to an inexpensive watch I own, which has incredible luminescence after 12 years.

3 seconds exposure after being exposed to light for several hours and in pitch black. Keep in mind I can’t even see the lume with my eyes but the iPhone picked it up a bit on the long exposure . I have good eyesight.

Would love to know what others have experienced.

Thanks in advance

How are you testing it?

Wearing and checking. Also sitting it under a lamp to see if it helps. Barely

again my only reference is a 12 year old Timefactors watch that’s bright for most of evening by just wearing it. I was kind of surprised by the lack of glow after seeing so many reviews showing the luminescence

Thanks in advance

Use LED lighting. Even an iPhone should produce enough to "charge" the lume. The ST1 lume is just ok. It is not comparable to some of the dive watches like Seiko or Tudor though...

Can you share a pic of your lume versus lack of? Usually, fluorescent lights or sunlight for 20mins get my Ultraman glowing.

Virtually impossible unless I am in a pitch black room and then do a very long exposure which invariably blurs.

I think it must just be very dim. At least it’s consistent across the dial/subdials etc so not end of world. Just a little disappointed.

May let it go and find a new favorite.

It's not that hard to get a lume shot. Just juice it up in direct sunlight for a minute and then quickly snap a picture in the corner of a dimly lit room. It will probably blur a bit but it's not a big deal.

Of the watch - sure. Of the Lume? See post. It’s so dull I can’t get a picture without blurring due to long exposure.

added but it is so dull that the photo is in a pitch black closet with a 3 second exposure. I can’t see the lume with my eyes but the iPhone picked it up slightly.

i want to add that im not looking to argue over poor photos or my lack of photography skills - just seriously interested if this is normal luminescence. If so, no big deal. If not , I guess the same.

With my other watch yes. That’s the whole point of asking the forum. It’s virtually impossible to get one with this watch

I added after it has sat in daylight under a lamp in a linen closet that pitch black. It’s so dim I can’t see with my eyes but the iPhone can see with 3 seconds exposure

Just curious...did it come with all proper documentation? It truly should light up. Do you have a UV light? This would be the best way to tell...

Thanks. Yes box papers etc. Whole package. I’ll try my sons uv light. Good idea. I wondered if being boxed since new could affect as opposed to wearing and cycling the lume.
Thanks

The subdials themselves have full luminescence, that's one of the features of the ST1. I remember reading somewhere some dials had to be replaced because the lume wasn't up to snuff. Maybe yours is one of those. Check with a UV light, the dials should glow.

Yea something seems off about that. All of the lume shots I've seen of that watch look like the picture Evitzee posted.

That seems a mag or two lower than what I would expect.

Thanks for this recommendation

I used my sons UV flashlight to charge the lume and wow.

It’s never been this bright!!! And this is in a lit room!
