I'm lucky enough to have both of these watches at the moment.

The problem is, obviously, they look very similar. The watch nerds among us will know they are different in every way possible similar to a BB58 vs ND Sub but it just seems redundant to own both.

Which watch would be the one to keep? Since I would be giving the watch away, the Daytona's current whacky gray market price is not a factor. Likewise, the Speedy's worse value retention is not a factor either.

Pros of the Omega Speedmaster Racing ( 329.30.44.51.04.001 ) :
    - Effectiveness of the AR coating
    - Easier to read the time & chronograph at a glance
    - Chronograph pushers feel nicer and are easier to use
    - Date function
    - Jumping hour function
    - Sapphire caseback
    - Better power reserve
    - Bezel design looks way better in person than the Daytona

    Pros of the Rolex Daytona C ( 116500LN ) :
    - No top AR coating
    - More confidence of 100m WR due to the screwdown crown
    - Oyster case looks nicer than the Omega w/ lyre lugs
    - Smaller 38mm (40mm w/ crown) size is more comfy
    - Thinner
    - Lighter
    - Oyster case & bracelet is simply built better
    - Reliable & proven 4130 workhorse movement

More Speedy pics. I like the powdery dust dial (similar to the GSotM) as opposed to Rolex's glossy enamel-like design.

It’s size difference is huge... I’d go the one you like more on wrist. Both great pieces.

Now if it was that grey dust dial....

I'm fine with both sizes and I considered the gray Racing dial, but that one isn't a dust-style, more like a brushed sunburst. Also, the bezel font on that model is gray and doesn't pop as nicely as on the white.

Both are nice and the speedy is arguably more intricate. However, I prefer the Daytona in this case, and it would be the one I would be tempted to keep. Good luck in making your decision!

The movement in the Speedmaster is the crown jewel here. Double barrel, co-axial, finishing etc... Not forgetting the accuracy. Daytona's movement is simplier and some people prefer it this way.

My take is sell the Daytona as these fetch above retail. If you sell the Speedmaster, be prepared to take a significant hit.

Are you even allowed to sell the Daytona? I thought all Rolex papers werekept in a secret vault in Switzerland for an undisclosed amount of time. :D

In all seriousness they are both great. My head says Rolex for investment purposes but I don’t buy watches for investments so...my heart says omega, that’s where my watch collecting passion lays. Can’t go wrong either way though.

Both are beautiful. If price truly doesn't matter, I'd keep the Speedmaster. (Unless the Daytona is WAY more comfortable)

I like the dial finishing of the speedmaster but the proportionality of the watch is off to me, way to big.

I've never seen the white dial daytona in person but if it's anything like the black dial, it's a keeper!

Both nice watches, but it will really come down to a couple of things, how do the wear on your wrist. And there's the money side of things, you will lose money selling the Omega and make money selling the Rolex. Personally I'd sell the Daytona and make use of the cash to buy something else.

IMO, the Daytona looks better than that Speedmaster and fits your wrist better. That Speedmaster is too big and thick (again, my opinion). And from a monetary value, the Rolex will appreciate in value while the Speedmaster won’t. Keep the Daytona.

I agree with Donn Chambers. From the pictures you posted, the Daytona seems to fit in your wrist a bit better.

Grest pair of watches, either would be an outstanding gift!

The Speedy is definitely big and at the limits of what my wrist can handle, but I wouldn't say it is thick. They made the watch thinner since the release of the regular non-METAS version. It's pretty much the same height as the Daytona if you don't include the top crystal of the Speedy. If it didn't have the exhibition caseback like the Rolex, I really believe it would be the same thickness as the Daytona.

I remember owning a DSotM and that baby was THICC.

For me, the Daytona is too small on my wrist. I'm a huge Speedmaster fan too. But on your wrist I'd say the Daytona is a better fit.
