As part of my continual education kindly provided by all 😀 the "I ❤️ my Speedmaster" website does not seem to recognise a 3592.5 calibre 863 as it comes back with a 3590.5 and 861 movement. Am I correct that the website wont do 863 and is there anywhere else I can check?

The only way to « check » as you say is by requesting an Extract from Omega archives.

Your caliber 863 is indeed a decorated 861 that appears through the sapphire caseback of that particular model.

No single serial table or website will be able to confirm your serial to be a cal 863 in a 3592.50, Omega is the only way to go.

For a watch of this age, an Extract may not be available, so your best bet is to send an email to the Omega customer service line in your country and ask them to kindly confirm the reference for your full serial number. It's free, and they usually can get back to you within 2-3 business days.

Can you please explain why?

Extracts are available for watches before 2000. Tritium was used till late 1997/early 1998 so there is no reason for this watch not be eligible for an extract.

I am not aware of a Speedmaster from the nineties for which the information was not available and an extract declined. Except, if for example the watch is Franken and the movement comes from another watch model Omega will decline the request without providing detailed explanations - which shouldn’t be the case here.

Still, you’re right, an email to the customer service might be cheaper and faster but it will only help to confirm the watch model and OP will not get the production date, destination country or kind of bracelet confirmed.

Were all 3592.50 produced before 2000? I thought the changeover was somewhere around 1998 or so, but I wonder if maybe there was leftover stock. Besides, it sounds like he just wants to verify that his movement is correct, not production date or destination country. Saves him $150 and two months' wait

Yes I’d say so. To me, superluminova dials are on 3572.50s hence 3592.50s should be all pre-2000.

Nevermind, your customer service request suggestion is a perfect alternative. 👍

Except there are some tritium-dial 3570/2.50 out there, so I wonder... No matter, @eugeneandresson says he should be eligible for an Extract based on their observations anyway
