Saw this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RARE-Omeg...-Wristwatch-/131802587018?hash=item1eb00bdf8aPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Genuine prototype or POS ? Price seems crazy either way.
Listing uses words like 'almost certainly' and 'probably' a prototype, so no certainty either way but I lean more toward POS. And yes, the price is crazy.
Anytime I heard prototype it makes me laugh... Except when it comes from very serious collector such as @doctor steel https://omegaforums.net/threads/speedmaster-145012-68-prototype-racing-dial.25486/ But who knows.... Maybe this one is the ultimate prototype of the century...
Abouttime don't sell pieces of s--t. Their offerings have been discussed here before many times. And the comment about the Seamaster caseback just shows how ignorant some members are.
The seller of this one has had access to huge amounts of Omega watches and parts for many years and I don't think he would be confused by a franken. I think he has described it as he sees it and would have no desire to ruin his business by selling crap.
Ok, so a genuine prototype. Would be interesting to hear some history. Personally I still don't get the price, but that may be just me.
Out of curiosity, does anyone know if a Speedmaster Prototype exists? I've seen a few of the 'radial dial' prototypes but would be great to see if there were any "pre-2915's" in existence, even if it was at the Omega Museum.
I would say its both, a genuine POS. Its also ugly and overpriced. Someone will buy it. I pity the next owner, lol
