    Hi all,

I have just got my Ultraman and it is my first professional model. It is cool, the colours, the step dial, the 'blob'. I really like this Ultraman version but it has got me thinking and I would appreciate your views. This is just a generic question about value v the tradional professional model.

It cost me £4750 new and I can get from a grey dealer a new in the box professional for around £2750.

I personally think the Ultraman is worth the extra money, oh that dial alone! However given the two and the cost, would you spend the extra?

I think I probably would on basis that it’s limited but I get where you are coming from. I think the ultraman may well be one that stays above rrp for some time too.

I’ve both and paid £3k from an AD for the pro, so £1.75k difference if you look at it like that.

Certainly a hike but for all the additional elements I think it’s worth the extra, especially being limited. But the Pro is such a classic versatile piece, still my everyday watch.

First, being in the U.K. you got it for less than most.

Second, yes I would. Little in watch collecting at this price point is fully rational or logical.

Yes, i would. However I personally place questionmarks with further inflated pricing of ST2's today, if its than still "explainable". But as said before, if its rational you are looking for watches are not the best place anyway.

You are more likely to lose less on the Ultraman (if at all) than on a regular Speedy as soon as you walk out of the AD so, in this sense, it's worth it. As others pointed it out, it is also a limited edition, which - in case of Speedmasters - eventually will be picked up by collectors. Having said that, buy a watch because you like it and can afford it. You can always get a regular Speedy later for a cheaper price. UMs will probably not be around that long.

Yes I agree, and as most of the people said it makes sense also from a financial point of view (hold the value).

I'm not a fan of the colour scheme of the Ultraman, might look better on a strap.

bracelet seems the best combination for the ultraman. great overall look with steel.

@Robbyman i personally think it's worth it and especially if you like it, then go for it.

I am not a fan neither of the color scheme, prefer the ST1 over it, but each to its own. Here besides a 3572

Definitely looks better without the plastic over the dial... ;)

Love the Silver Snoopy strap on a traditional Speedmaster. Looks awesome on any traditional model, as well as on some of the LEs.

Yes, goes nicely with any Speedy. Mine is the Jean Rousseau edition (they made it for Omega)

To each their own. The accents on the strap work to emphasize it of course. Plain colored strap or bracelet tones it down a bit. The accents are what makes it for me.

If you already got the ultraman and you are happy with it for the money that you put in, then just leave it as that. you don't need to get validation from people that might have different value in a dollar. :)

    Congrats on the watch.

And put an ultraman speedy and my credit card on the table, and see how much I can resist .. LOL
