Valued As Parts.
I am using this as there are no "poor"2998's traded now, or recently. Only basket cases so they can only be valued by their constituent parts, or lack of them.

There is currently a big difference between the 2998-1 and 2998-2 in the collector category. I am not sure if this will play out on the next few trades, but it is only a reflection of past trades.

Could it be that new collectors want the -1's?

I get very excited when there's an updated price chart these days!

DON bezel just went for ~$2150 on eBay and was not in NOS condition with some damage to the metal btw 60 & 65 and some other chips to the insert. Amazing.

Kind of justified my buying another .022-69 for $3450 last week solely bc of the pristine condition DON bezel...

As you and previous posters have said $2000 is a long way to a nice watch. Will I need to invent a DON protector cover for daily use 😉

Thread revive here but after perusing the May Price Guide on Sp101, I was surprised to find that the top pricing on 145.022-69 is above that of a 145.022-68 Transitional. I always though that the transitional to be a more desirable piece but perhaps I am mistaken? Or is it that the ability to track sales of '69s (because they are more plentiful) provides better data on sale prices?

I noticed that as well last week and was quite surprised to see the "anomaly". Would be interested to get an explanation given the shorter production period of the '68 (~ 20K), one would expect a higher price.

I think, in part, it's because there are several variations of the -69 - dial, bezel, caseback, etc. It's an interesting ref in its own right.

I still like the -68 for its Transitional nature though. 😁

And, as you said, very few -68's for sale so data is lagging behind the more plentiful -69.
