Speedmaster overpolished or normal?

    Hi guys,

I'm looking to pick up either a 3572.50 speedmaster, or a new hesalite speedmaster. While I like the movement display on the 3572.50, I'm really keen on a piece in great condition without dents or overpolishing that distorts lugs etc.

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on the following piece, however while the piece below looks good, I can't help but wonder if bottom right lug has been overpolished and lost some shape, or if that's the way it's meant to look?

    https://mall.elady.com/Omega-Speedm...-Steel-Mens-Sports-Watch-357350-BF335334.html

If anyone could provide some advice re: the condition of the piece, that would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Justin

Common for the Japanese market to give second hand watches a polish before sale. Based on the bottom of the first picture below I would say it’s seen the polishing wheel.

Thanks for the quick response Standy. That being the case, would this be one it's advisable to pass on?

Price is ok for a watch that isn’t easy to find. Display back and movement is a bonus.
It wouldn’t bother me too much on a modern speedy.

Edges are decent at the price.

Sapphire is up to you. I don’t like it, and I have the same movement in a display back Sinn and I never look at it. Then again it’s not as colorful in the base lemania execution and all rhodium.

One thing I noticed about Speedys on sale at eLady is that the bracelets are often short. This one is listed at 6.8 so make sure you will fit into it. They usually have more than one of these listed for sale at any given time so if you need more links, i suggest you compare the bracelet sizes of all of them.

I am not an expert but from the photos, it doesn't look too overly polished and the price is good IMHO. Make sure to Google for a coupon. Good luck!

Pretty easy to get links from any Omega Boutique for this bracelet so wouldn’t worry about that.

Display back is unique, but you never see it, for obvious reasons

Unless you have a spectacular movement to look at (and Speedmaster movements ain't it) a sapphire back is worthless (to me). Pre mid-80's no high end watches came with display backs...PP, AP, VC all had solid backs. They didn't need to advertise there workmanship.

Thanks guys. Main thing for me was if the lugs looked out of shape, but I'm fine with buffing out of scratches etc. Good point about the bracelet sizing.
