Speedy 3572 from Closer ?
No, the case came in one of a couple boxes of parts I bought from a watchmaker closing down his business. The 861 movement was from a MKII.

Hi Dave, these also have a black center ring but are thinner then the ones that came on mine ? Is there a parts number or were these only for the MK II ? Two great looking watches you have !
Good looking watch! I haven’t seen anyone use the normal spear chrono on this, I like it!

I don’t know the full history behind the hands. The thicker ones with more black extending out from the center are the normal, more common style for the MKII. The thin ones with the black in the center only are a lot rarer. They used this style on the true Professional racing models in the late 60s like below, screenshot from speedmaster101.com which everyone reading should visit regularly if you don’t already.

Thanks for the info Dave, i do see those hands used on the MKII but as you say, very rare. Look a little shorter as the standard hands ? And i totaly love the spear/drop end chrono hand so i changed that as well as i feel it is more balanced.

Is this a thid version ? As slim as your Racing hands but more black covering outward.

I think at least the hour hand belong to a Mark IV Speedmaster as i have spotted a few with these hands, but happy to hear other opinons.

I have seen those but not 100% sure where they come from. I have only seen one or two with that style so not sure if they are swapped from another model or just another type that appeared on the MKII at some point.

And after my MKII swap into a Pro case i also had this 3594.50 Broad Arrow or Replica updated with standard hands and a cheeky minutes bezel. Who reads those tiny Tachynumbers anyway 😕 I like this one on strap, leather or Cordura, as both match nicely with the charcoal dial and it saves some weight.

And a fresh one, the lovely ivory / cream Albino dial in a 3570.50 and sapphire caseback. What a colour ! and almost a photo negative to the black dial one.

^^^ Yep, the ivory/creme/ecru dials on the Albino and the 3575.20 moonphase/date model are about the nicest color dials Omega has produced. They appear white in photographs but hold a piece of white paper alongside it and it's not white at all, it's a soft, natural earthtone. Looks great on the wrist.

Recently did this redial of a 'spare' 3570.50 with an 1861 that I had, and a genuine dial and hand set I had picked up from another member here. Intentionally went orange for the small seconds for even more orange pop, but I think white was the only original small seconds. (happy to be corrected here)

Correct, this was done to visually isolate the functions (general time keeping & chronograph) for better readability. The running seconds hand was white as it directly paired with the hour/minute hands, which are also white. The minute and hour recorder hands are orange and run off the orange central seconds hand. But, the great thing with modding, is you can do whatever you want.

Ahh, that's why! When described like that it is perfectly logical. Thanks for the info.

Way late to reply to these messages but just seeing this thread and figured I'd contribute. I choose to use this style of Mark ii slim hands with the offset black sections on my Speedmaster 145.022 Mark ii Racing dial project. I've seen a handful or so of Speedmaster Mark ii 145.014 Racing dial iterations with these, like this and this, and I really dug how these looked on the racing dials. A set came up for sale in France, which I jumped on buying, and when the arrived I posted about them here.

Thanks Erich, the dials do show up from time to time on the bay and C24, but maybe just 2 per year and very expensive..., and i finaly got a hit on my searches with a Belgian dealer 2 months ago. Still expensive but not crazy so i took it as it was in perfect shape and with the Omega blister.
