I wanted to post a picture of a Mark II that looks to be polished to death. After doing some preliminary research, this may be the most important shot to asses a Mark II case history. This is an obvious no go in my book.

Maybe it’s the facetless version?

Honestly, I’d rather have clear facets with scratches than it be rounded off like this. I’m constantly seeings ads for watches that start with the word ‘Polished’ like that’s a good thing. Give it a sympathetic clean, sure, but don’t buff it to death. It reminds me of the silver items on Antiques Roadshow where they’ve been over-polished so that the hallmarks can’t be read, devaluing the item.

I agree. Would much rather have an untouched case than one with no lines/edges. The watch in first pic in this thread was looks like it was polished many times.

I passed on the one we were discussing. Came to the conclusion that it wasn't worth the risk without seeing a movement picture.
