    Hi all,

I'm looking to buy this speedmaster 861

The owner says it's all original and it looks like it to me aswell. But i'm not expert.

So I'd like some advise from people on this forum first before i buy this watch.

Does everything look good and can i buy it without a worry?

Yes, everything is correct for a '71. Nice fading starting on the bezel as well. Case looks like it's had a slight polish but not a big concern.

From the pics I'm guessing it's a dealer watch so may be overpriced though.

    thanks for your reply.

the watch is not from a dealer. The price is 2100 euro. I think that's a decent price?

Is that end link stamped '6'? If so that's not correct for this model but it's valuable in its own right if it's real.

Check out speedmaster101.com for prices. €2100 isn't a million miles away. I'd like to pay less is the service history is unknown.

    Looks freshly serviced.
I would like to see the outside case back. The date stamp is unusual, perhaps someone here knows the story? In all the watches I have seen the date number would follow the reference - but I havent seen inside a lot of '70's as it is not an area I concentrate on. This is what I mean:

Don't know about that bracelet - cant see enough to be sure but is it correct? I cannot tell. The end-links look dodgy.
As to price. This precise reference has been one of the cheapest "Vintage" Speedmasters and as such undervalued in my opinion.

If this watch has a documented service, I would say the price is fair to both sides, subject to the case back outside being as expected.

I've seen that type of inner case back on a couple of 70's Speedmasters before.

the watch has been serviced 2 months a go. I will ask about the endlink, thanks.

I assume the caseback is correct?

If it's a pair and they're the real deal: "Such a deal" :)

Try and find out the ref no of the bracelet. That will go some way to confirming.

Looks like a 1171 to me.

Sssssh. Don't asked any more #6 end link questions. Their the wrong size for this watch but worth > $1,000, if real, to a vintage Speedie owner

Looking closer, I'm 99.99% sure they're not No.6 endlinks. Either fake or something else.

Try googling it but I think the 1125 is a 19mm bracelet.

    Still not a bad price.
