I bought this speedmaster 39mm day date. Pretty sure it was legit. But the omega symbol on the dial isn't applied. Is this normal or a fake? The band is marked 850 and all complications work properly. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Omega-Speed...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
looks fine to me, keep in mind the earlier version which you have is painted, not applied, the model was refreshed at some point.
The listing says it is a Triple Date 3220.50.00. The Omega website description for that watch is here: http://www.omegawatches.com/gents/speedmaster/day-date There are an awful lot of discrepancies in the two watches. This is what it should look like: On yours, the top two sub-dials are wrong, the sub-dial hands are all thicker (the 24 hour skeleton hand is just wrong), the "airplane" hand is from a different model & shouldn't be on here, the hour markers are incorrect, there is no "chronometer" marking on your dial, the "Tachmetre" text is in too large font. There are probably more if you really sit down and scrutinise. As the seller said "100% authentic" in the ad, I'd see if he'll accept a return. Alternatively, he's got the model no. wrong. But you need to check that out.
Pretty sure it is ref no is wrong this is the older 39mm 18mm lug version. I couldn't find anything about the omega being applied or painted.
Had another look - if it is a 3520.50 Mark 40, then it looks right: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OMEGA-Spe...215538200?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item3a7d9ce818Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
I believe he just miss labeled the ad. I just questioned the logo being painted. Thanks all! Looks like a good 3520.50
Buying a watch off eBay frightens the living daylights in to me! I would rather look at buying a watch and paying a little more for it to know it was legit! Im not saying all eBayers are scammers the truth is you just dont know now a days, fakes are so good its incredible! I do look at all the vintage stuff on there but for me i would rather go on here for example, there are some right belters on here for sale!
I am going to my watch maker tomorrow to double check its authenticity. I am pretty sure it is legit.
eBay can be a bit of a minefield but there are legit sellers that have quite a good reputation across the forums, especially for modern (<20 yr old) watches. Do a search for trusted eBay sellers or pm me and I'll point you in the right direction. Quite a few come out of Japan.
Hi this is my first post on this site I've been using this site as a great reference for years so thank you all, I recently purchased an omega Speed master triple date from an Italian dealer the shop is called Plus Watch, the watch looks and feels real, I was just wondering if anyone can tell from the images if (1) this watch if authentic and (2) has anyone dealt with this shop before Pluswatch.it thanks a lot for your help in advance!
I just replied to your thread on WUS - but here I can see the serial number fully. The watch is a ref. 35205300, and as I stated on WUS it comes on a bracelet, not a strap. Otherwise the watch looks fine. Cheers, Al
Hi thanks for the reply no there is no metal bracelet with the watch there are numbers on the back plastic protection that say 58997920, I have never seen this brown strap before only black, have you ever seen this strap before? Also is it possible that the model number is mixed up? Thanks again for the reply!
That number is on the case back under the sticker. The watch head is right for a 35205300, but it should have a bracelet, not as a strap as I've said. Cheers, Al
Thanks for the reply have you ever seen this type of strap before on this watch as this is what raised my suspicions, I have seen the exact strap in black but never this colour, I attached a picture do those numbers mean anything? Thanks again for the reply.
I've already told you what the numbers mean....it's the serial number of the watch... As I've said a few times now, the watch should be on a bracelet, not a strap...the strap is likely aftermarket.
Thank you for your help I'll try and contact the seller you've been a great help, sorry I thought the first message didn't go through, Thanks again.
