I normally keep the chrono hand ‘parked’ at 6pm like this (so that I can see the Omega logo etc). I assume this doesn’t cause any extra stress or wear but I wondered if anyone knew?

    Cheers

That watch is obviously from the northern hemisphere, we have the face modified down under so that 12.00 is at the top again. Australian assembled watches come with the 12.00 at top but have to be modified if sold in the northern hemisphere. Our watchmakers carry this process out as a complimentary add on when servicing our watches.

Real people use the the chrono seconds to display the day of the month.

psychopaths use it to display the number of murders they have committed.

An old watchmaker told me what we call the "Chrono Hand" is a "Seconds Recorder Hand".
Maybe Al would chime in along with any others more knowledgeable that me.

Yes, it’s technically the chronograph seconds recording/recorder hand.

Same here, don't know why one would want to see the Omega name and logo without the thin hand in the way. I also don't see the sense of keeping the chrono running so the wearer can see it moving. To me the chrono function should be ready to go when a timing requirement occurs and not requiring a reset of the chrono before use. But everyone has their own quirks.

well I've seen people use the chrono hand to keep track of a second timezone, I find that an acceptable usage.
I'm too paranoid to leave my chrono running though :\

If I understand you correctly, they'd have to start the stopwatch at midnight or noon of the second time zone, then read the second zone hour from the six o'clock subdial? Plus having to remember am/pm of the second zone (and winding the watch daily.) Seems like a lot of work!

I park mine at ~4:30 so it doesn't obstruct the sub-dials.
